Reading about the healing power of reading: Fiction, poetry, philosophy, narrative non-fiction NOT so-called “self-help” books/lifestyle bibles/diet plans/quick-fix manuals #bibliotherapy #nourishyourmind
A moment please for Joni and her best friend Alphonso the alpaca that my mum bought in Peru. She’s obsessed.
Good to be in great company! I resigned from the Mirror in November and am on six months gardening leave until the end of next month so I’m not allowed to work until then and it has felt like a LONG time already. Lots of reading and writing!
Ahh, well I enjoyed that. Recommend. Easier than some of my reads this year! #blueskybooks
Watching @jamestaylor-com.bsky.social and @carolekingofficial.bsky.social singing Sweet Baby James on BBC2 just now has pretty much finished me off 🥲 The absolute joy of music in trying times ❤️

Blackheath giving joy in dark days always 🥰
Just a little reminder for all the people currently thinking/stressing about doing their “everything I did in 2024” roundup reel: if you got through it, you’re winning 💙
No, Lloyds, I do not want a Spotify wrapped style review of my year in spending when I log onto your banking app, thanks. Are you trying to ruin Christmas for everyone?! 😳🚫🎄
One of my all-time favourite memories, that day! 🤠
Nightbitch by Rachel Yoder: It’s mad. Read it. Brilliant.
You can take the girl out of the newsroom… #buyapaper
I’m nothing if not consistent. And old. #spotifywrapped
Fascinating and nostalgic read on the BBC about the long traditions of Billingsgate and Smithfield’s markets in London, which are sadly set to close after centuries trading fish and meat in the capital.

The lack of self awareness is staggering. The fact his defence is that he’s worked with 4,000 people and there are ONLY 13 complaints. Crikey.
Righto 🙄
Campaign to normalise hibernation for humans.
Up and out before 8am for the first time in what feels like an age and I can confirm I do not care for it 🥶
Sad day. I always liked Prescott and used to edit his column at the Sunday Mirror many years ago. He didn’t pull any punches there either! Sending condolences and best wishes to his loved ones 🌹
Never had a games console or ever played a video game except Gameboy Tetris in the 90s but was recently inspired by a pal to get a Nintendo Switch to occupy my busy mind when things are overwhelming & it works! What are your fun game recommendations for an absolute beginner? (No violence please!)
What’s up, Bluesky? This is exciting.
