Yeah it's 75% Dragon Quest Builders 2, 25% ACNH. If you complete DQB2 you'll see so many features that everyone is praising Pokopia for.

Pokopia has been such a huge delight to play dude, been screaming from the rooftops how good it'd be since I loved the Dragon Quest Builders games, but I had no idea it'd be this good

Game has made me tear up several times and its just so fun to build stuff for my lil virtual monsters ๐Ÿฅน

Pokemon Pokopia Is One Of The Best Pokemon Games Yet - The Switch Effect Pokemon Pokopia is a clever mix of Pokemon, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft, making it one solid and time consuming experience.

Pokemon Pokopia is one of the best Pokemon games ever, but not because it's a Pokemon game.

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake Review โ€“ Spirit snap Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake is a modern rendition of the famed PlayStation 2 survival horror classic by Koei Tecmo Games.

REVIEW: Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake

"...this is a distant departure from what made the original so breathtakingly horrifying, sacrificing all the subtlety that made you feel at unease and replacing it with cheap tricks."

Pokรฉmon Pokopia reminds us of an important lesson: other developers can - and should - take risks with the Pokรฉmon IP

Third-party dev just made the most thrilling Pokรฉmon in years.

Iโ€™ve sunk nearly 20 hours into Pokรฉmon Pokopia in 3 days โ€” a grim, Animal Crossing x Stardew Kanto from Koei Tecmo/Omega Force.

Copies are selling out on Switch 2.

Will Nintendo let outsiders steer the franchise?

BLADESTORM: Nightmare on Steam BLADESTORM: Nightmare is the newest evolution of 2007โ€™s BLADESTORM: The Hundred Yearsโ€™ War using the latest technologies and introducing many new elements. These technologies have made possible not on...

One that's truly special to me - Bladestorm!

Secretly last in Koei's Kessen series, trading Japanese history for European. The Hundred Years War, mangled Dynasty Warriors style. Pure dumb strategy-lite fun. Overhauled over the PS360 version.

Usually VERY overpriced. Often under ยฃ15 in sales though

Pokopia shows me that over all else, that my "always bet on Koei Tecmo" stance is proven once more

I'm not sure, but Koei Tecmo I notice is a bit odd when it comes to optimization and download sizes compared to other games.

For example it takes about 100GB to install Nioh 2 and 3 (not sure about Nioh 1 but I assume the same) while Elden Ring only takes like 50.

Absolutely! Only main exception is arguably Metroid: Other M. That one received mixed reception. Some folks enjoyed it, though.

That would be so awesome! The closest they got was Yo-Kai Sangokushi on the 3DS in 2016. Asian exclusive, of course ๐Ÿ˜ข

Koei Techmo needs to take a page out of the Warriors formula following Dragon Quest Builders 1&2 and Pokemon Pokopia. I NEED A Zelda / Hyrule game in this style. Like I desire.

I suspect they've intentionally made efforts to differentiate Pokopia from DQB2 by adding more Animal Crossing influences, changing the control scheme, and excluding combat. That way it is its own game and doesn't compete with Square Enix's property.

Believe it or not, this actually isn't as far fetched as it seems! Koei had a sub-brand called COMIX for like 2yrs in the mid-80s. They released "Jailus The Last Battle" (ใ‚ธใƒฃใ‚คใƒฉใ‚น) in 1984. Shares a remarkably similar Japanese name. The creator even made a sequel last year! hijk0909.itch.io/jailus2

I'm kinda thinking the reason Pokopia is so good is because it's a Koei Techmo joint and they can make a good game when it doesn't involve their own IP (sorry that's slight shade but I do love them, just kinda how it is.)

Also, I really did love DQBuilders 2 a LOT so they already had a fan in me...

I kinda forgot that Koei Tecmo were doing Pokopia, turns out that most of the games ive been playing this year have been from them:

Dynasty Warriors
Nioh
Pokopia

Theyve been on a great run of games for me in particular.

Meanwhile single player games, while not making ALL of the money, have continuously proven they're much safer investments that don't blow your company up from the inside out.
Koei Tecmo has been surviving off of Dynasty Warriors and NNA iterations for 26 years and now Nioh exists to do the same.

I suspect that's a key reason for so many things being different in Pokopia. UI, control scheme, battle mechanics, how you progress, etc. And to be fair, the OG Pokemon games had a lot of similar tile assets to the OG Dragon Quest games, too
