After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative.

The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools

I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.

This is learned today:

Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%.

I love the idea that *this* US government, which has been nabbing landscapers and five year olds knows where Iranian sleeper cells are but just hasn’t gotten around to doing anything about it yet.

Brought to you by a writer who remembered that Miss America could fly, but forgot that Miss America was not only super strong, but stronger than Baron Blood.

Hopefully in the next few weeks I'll win the lottery big. Odds are about equal to what Chris Wright is hoping for.

Agreed. Whatever good will and reliability that the United States had has been lit on fire in exchange for literally nothing for the citizens. It would take decades of work to repair the damage, all while one side actively refuses to acknowledge that damage, their part in it, or try to fix it.

Too many do not realize the permanent damage that he's already done. He and his supporters have undermined the US by showing that our word and our treaties are only as good as what fickle voters decide. Simply put, why should they trust our word with business, diplomatic, or security concerns?

At some level I hope he knows his legacy will be gone without him. None of the sons will be successful in business or politics after he is gone. The bribe money they've been laundering will dry up as they are no longer useful.

Stop having people who blatantly lie casually without being challenged. They have contempt for your channel and your viewers. The job isn't to regurgitate easily disproven lies, it is to try to provide a view into world events. Including world events that are being driven by demonstratable lies.

Buried in quite a fun SciFi series that is worth reading regardless of FESS.

Happy to see you've occasionally added Cajun food to the stories as well. Feels more authentic.

Gambit is in New Orleans, with tourist stuff everywhere. Grabbing a handful of postcards to fling, then being charged for them would be funny too.

JD Vance has a busy vacation schedule that won't wait for any reason outside of Thiel telling him to get back to work.

Given how Trump has treated agreements and treaties, our own allies rightfully distrust the USA right now because he's broken deals in days after they are made. Why would an enemy believe anything that he says? They just have to look at Venezuela and see he'll forget them quickly and go elsewhere.

Team books should predominantly have a cast of characters without their own book. Ideally no more than two or three members, and incorporate them constantly leaving and coming back into the story. Let the author have freedom to tell their stories without other title obligations intruding.

Comics should have more healthy couples, marriages, and even kids. Doesn't matter the target audience. Readers are more invested in a healthy relationship than who the hero is dating this month. Far more story options too.

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.

I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

1/ Here's what I can share:

I wanna tell the story of where my screen name came from. It's a story some of you are probably already familiar with but it deserves retelling.

It's well documented that thousands of Black people were killed by lynchings for decades, but the year 1892 was particularly egregious 🧵

So much of Delta Blues is timeless. Glad to see films like Sinners making it part of modern storytelling.

Never honestly saw the appeal of Elvis. Others had better voices and style. He was his generation's Frank Sinatra, but Sinatra eclipses him everywhere.

Not going to lie, I truly hope the primary vote in Colorado goes the way it did at the Colorado Democratic Assembly on Saturday, but that was motivated and angry voters (even with record numbers, just under 400). Primary will be with less motivated voters who go more by name recognition.

My mentions have folks calling Talarico a "fascist" and assuring me that black Texans would never ever vote for anyone who uses Christian language.

For the good of democracy, I'm begging some of you to take a long break from social media. It's not helping you and you're definitely not helping us.

“…about the 1873 massacre in Colfax, La., where dozens of Black men were murdered by a mob of former Confederates and Ku Klux Klan members.

ChatGPT had deemed it “D.E.I.” Mr. Fox said he agreed. “Because it focuses on exclusively anti-Black violence, which is a race,” he said.”

The National Security concerns alone should be enough for counties using Musk (or Thiel) products or services. Why should a democracy pay for anything from individuals actively and aggressively trying to undermine the concept of democracy?

Procurement, Capacity and Soverignity When your contractors are also your enemy

New, from me: Trump's retribution against Anthropic is over the top. But it should cause Democrats to think about how they will deal with contractors like Musk or Ellison when they return to power.

About about a Democratic No Kings Party, because it is time to show Democrats who are more concerned with defending the status quo that we're the ones who elected them, not the donors they are chasing for dwindling returns.

If an official commits an impeachable offense and nobody acts to impeach, it is no longer an impeachable offense.

People who oppose impeachment as “pointless” because it seems unlikely to result in removal do not understand this very simple point and seem unwilling to even try to understand it.

I’m briefly in India. This is a facile observation, but Americans have barely scratched the surface in understanding how the rest of the world is reacting to this war. It’s already an Iraq War-style disaster in the global imagination, underscored by the thuggishness and caprice of the Trump approach

And all it cost them is box seats with all the perks at any concert or event this administration would even think about attending.
