Last night, VCC’s Executive Director, Dani DeBoice, presented at the University of Calgary Faculty of Social Work’s 17th Annual Research Symposium. Dani spoke about how VCC brings Calgary’s Enough for All community-owned poverty reduction strategy to life through community-based research.

CED promotes our city as a place of opportunity for people, investment &business. Through Uplook, Calgary’s economic action plan, CED is helping position Calgary for long-term success.
The 2026 Alberta budget includes critical investments in affordable housing, education, health care, and child care, but changes to vital income support programs may push more Albertans deeper into poverty. VCC will conduct a deeper analysis of the budget in the coming days.
VCC is pleased to see The City of Calgary invest $29.3 million to create 566 new non-market homes through the Housing Capital Initiative.
We’re grateful to work alongside E4A Champions such as Trellis, HomeSpace and Norfolk, and we thank the other successful organizations.
In 2023, 9.6% of Calgarians were living in poverty— down from 10.2% in 2022, according to Statistics Canada.
While Calgary’s poverty reduction efforts are showing results, meaningful systemic change is still needed to address the root causes of poverty.
