A vote for Kelly is a vote for Raja at this point. CONSOLIDATE.
A local produce shop would be so good. I'm so tired of having to pick between Whole Foods' overpriced, Amazon optimized bullshit, or having to walk for half an hour to go anywhere else.
Lincoln Ave in Lakeview is full of these huge empty storefronts that used to be carpet or furniture dealers, and all I can think every time I walk by is how you could fit 10 boutique shops in each of them if they weren't essentially built like warehouses. It's no wonder no one can afford the rent.
IL is on the verge of electing a Senator far more aligned with Trump, MAGA power brokers & ICE infrastructure expansion than the values of a deep-blue state.
Here’s what Raja Krishnamoorthi hopes you don’t know about him & how we elect someone better.
My main fear is, since our reps generally have no idea how technology or city-building work, that we end up with some new parking meter deal-style setup where Waymo has the primary right to the roads so we can't build improvements, and immunity from prosecution when they inevitably do kill someone.

Meaning, CTA knows that bus isn't coming. But maybe in the current setup, Google or whatever mapping service doesn't know that, or doesn't bother to check. Or the trip has been marked as canceled, but nothing was sent to override the default schedule in the app(s). Lots of points of failure
Thanks!
And 2) Figure out how to remove fully cancelled trips from the tracker. If it's "scheduled", but it doesn't pull out for its trip, why is it still "scheduled" with no indication that it's not coming when they *know* it's not coming? My guess is it goes back to the multi-layered setup you talk about.
Awesome thank you. Knowing all this, I think the main things I'd like to see solved are 1) Better tracking of what errors actually occur. Like if a bus isn't showing up correctly on the tracker, why? Did the driver not log on correctly, was there a mechanical error? How often is that the cause?
Welcome back witness slip warriors 😤 The ILGA is back in session and there are bills to pass. Get those fingers warmed up for these four bills that are now in committee

Illinois democrats are calling this 'the year of affordability', so it is critically important to show your opposition to this legislation that aims to carve out suburbs and other cities from the People Over Parking Act

Same conversation I've been having over and over in the coding world. LLMs can do some interesting stuff, but it's what we would have hired new grad devs to do. Now, junior devs are going to have fewer opportunities, which means before long, there will be a lot fewer senior devs. And then what?
I think a big part of it is also that they don't see *anyone* who even tangentially supports multi-racial pluralism as truly "white." They see them as race traitors and another word I'm not going to write here but you know the one. Whiteness cannot be separated from racism and exclusionary policies.
Assuming every anonymous person on the internet is a teen by default unless they prove otherwise feels like an ass backwards way to protect children/teens on the internet.

To put a finer point on this, upzoning single-family neighborhoods would probably make a lot of homeowners wealthier by enhancing the value of the land underneath their homes. But it would also raise the specter of apartments (and maybe even non-white apartment-dwellers) on their block.
Don't get too excited. Certainly a better position than many others are taking, but Quigley is calling to replace ICE with a different organization that essentially does the same thing. There appears to be no fundamental change here.
If it's any motivation, I would love to read this. How the buses/trains are tracked and how that translates to what we see in the apps is a constant topic of conversation in my friend group.
I'd be fascinated to know how many productive hours LLMs have cost us in people spending time trying to turn them off rather than doing their jobs. I'm a software dev and I just spent 40 minutes trying to stop Outlook from rewriting my emails for me.
This goes out to the public.
Ask every elected official that represents you if they support ABOLISHING ICE.
Report back publicly.
If they can’t say that they want to ELIMINATE the fascist secret police that is kidnapping people? Get a new elected.

This is the smartest thing I've read about the Venezuelan regime change effort.
A Hampton Inn in Asheville just canceled my family's reservation because our address (incorrectly) showed Asheville—and the hotel bars locals within 50 miles.
When I asked why, they said, "because of our homeless population," adding that most hotels here have similar policies.
This is outrageous.
