I'm very proud of my student Marija, who successfully defended her PhD thesis on cross-lingual phonetic vowel representations today!

The "AI" framing of large language models is currently widespread. But what do we even mean by "intelligence" - and what role does it really play in the research agenda in CogSci, NLP, and other fields?

We made a survey. Could you help us pin this down?

Apart from being totally ungrammatical, this doesn't seem to have any of the expected (formal, stylistic) properties of Old Norse verse, like alliteration or use of metaphors. Perhaps it proves that an LLM can output Icelandic/Old Norse word salad if prompted to do so?
