Current NIH leadership want you to think they are using rigorous, consistent & scientific processes to screen studies to align them with agency priorities.
But the process that they have put down on paper is a sham.
It’s important to know NIH is not following its own guidance. Here’s why:

When someone says „Scientists do not want you to know“ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They can’t shut up about what they found out and want you to know.

We have integrated the Allen Institute's BioFile Finder app with IDR. You can quickly Group and Filter all images in a study. Data is served by the IDR search engine and supports up to a million images at a time. BioFile Finder links are on each study page e.g. idr.openmicroscopy.org/study/idr0056/

A new Nature Medicine study on ChatGPT Health isn't encouraging.
The system under-triaged 52% of emergencies, telling folks with DKA to wait 24-48 hours. It does fine on routine stuff, but fails at clinical extremes.

Here's my favorite one I found in the wild (technically it was the entry point for a tutorial, not an error, but it has the right vibes).

I'm constantly trying (/failing) to get this point across.
If you're a trained expert in a field, then it may be worthwhile to question the scientific consensus of your peers.
If you're not, the scientific consensus is absolutely the best you can do and it's arbitrary foolishness to disregard it.

my friends and I had a lot of fun with markov and earlier GPT stuff when it was just us doing experiments on the computer with our own data. it's the naked capitalist extractionism + insistence on "value add" features that make the internet worse that's the problem.

Strange how these programs seemed to be able to stay open during all previous government shutdowns (including much larger funding lapses). It’s almost like this is just punitive instead of budgetary.
