Many years ago Ahmet Zappa and I sold an animated pilot to Klasky-Csupo (the Rugrats people) called BENCH PRESSLY: THE WORLD’S STRONGEST PRIVATE DICK. Basically Dick Tracy set in Vegas of the future. During casting I suggested Bruce Campbell, but no one at the company knew who he was

(cont) Bruce was fun to work with, a nice guy, and a good sport about the whole situation. I’m not sure what “treatable but not curable” means, but I’ll keep a good thought for him in hopes he’ll be able to make more horror fans’ dreams come true like he did for me.

(cont) We kept up just long enough for the pilot not to sell, and that was that. Sidebar: Bruce had recently played my friend Tuc Watkins’ gay lover on Showtime’s Beggars & Choosers, and was more than happy to chat about that.

(cont) This was 2003, the same week BUBBA HO-TEP was released. At the LA screening I texted Bruce while we were in line, he came out and made a bee-line for my friends and I. We chatted and took a pic. I won’t lie - it was a really cool week to be a horror person. 5/

(cont) He read the script and eventually agreed to audition. The Klasky-Csupo folks were convinced, & he was cast. Also cast - Tim Curry. Cut to: weeks later, Ahmet and I are giving Bruce & Tim voice acting direction in the recording studio.

(cont) I explained the pilot & the situation, & asked if I could send him the script. I included my phone number, and in defiance of how things work in Hollywood, he called me directly 20 minutes later. I was shocked. We chatted abt the pilot, I told him he would have to audition (not my choice)

(cont) I knew they would make Bruce audition, which at that point he didn’t do - he was “offer only” by then. But I really thought he would be great. Bruce had a website back then where you could just email him directly, so in complete defiance Hollywood protocol, I did.

Hmmm not that I remember, but I have a recurring low boil inflammatory situation that I take it for during the dqy and it works.

Totally. Ibuprofen is a anti-inflammatory, and it just calms everything down in me. Give it a shot! When it starts happening to me, I just get up and take a couple, and within about 20 minutes everything has calmed down. I also take it when I have insomnia. It seems to work for that too.

My cure for that is taking ibuprofen when it happens. Works every time!

I made 20 and sold them all except one XS. I may do another round tho … :)
