Kid is reading the Wikipedia page for fluorine, giggling with each new fact he learns, and calling it an "original OC do not steal" element
the pro-measles party doesn't want to go on record as accomplishing their goals??
Katabasis.
Iβm just impressed that AI was boosting our growth path all the way back since 1870
Iβve heard of teachers using ai to make their class presentations, write assignments, in some cases grade them.
Theyβre being pressured to use ai for their teaching and in some cases making students use it in place of doing work by hand. No fucking wonder.
I honestly think a lot of ai use is driven by feeling the other person in the relationship (teacher/student in this case) is putting in the least effort possible so you might as well match it.
Me to Catholic monarchist weirdos online: oh, sure, you want a Catholic theocracy, but is half your family volunteering at fish fries for the next 5 Fridays?
My kid, upon learning that mourning doves are the suburban version of city pigeons:
"The idea that you'd have the same animal in a different region but it's a different color is some video game-ass logic."
worth remembering: "AI", as in machine learning, is a LOT older than the current round of chatbots, and it was pretty popular among tech enthusiasts (which leaned left!) for years
it wasn't until it was redefined to mean "bot that replaces artists" that everyone except billionaires turned on it
Pretty sure the only pads they wear are kneepads
My god do we need UBI
βResearchers have found that when a new plasma center opens in a neighborhood, foot traffic at local grocery stores increases, interest in payday loans declines and crime goes down, an indication of the way money from plasma props up householdsβ finances for necessities.β
Thank you! I love texture like this so much.
Back view of a man standing outdoors in the snow on a sunny day near a Victorian greenhouse. Heβs wearing a dark green knitted, cabled sweater covered in Celtic knots and braids.
Took me 20+ years but I finally got around to knitting my husband a sweater. This was so much work and he absolutely adores it. Finished it last night and gave it to him this morning :)
"Moderna's CEO announced the company will no longer invest in new Phase 3 vaccine trials for infectious diseases: 'You cannot make a return on investment if you don't have access to the U.S. market. Vaccines for Epstein-Barr virus, herpes, and shingles have been shelved.β 9:12 AM Feb 12, 2026 604.8K Views
In terms of what cures are being lost:
- Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis
- herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis
- shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease
Found an additional graphic that gets even more of these quotes together.
I've kept "I hate myself, I hate clover, and I hate bees" pinned above my desk since I first started studying evolutionary biology as an undergraduate. So relatable to get extremely frustrated with your study system.
Not actually a photo of the Down House staff, but probably roughly contemporaneous. Source: https://britishheritage.com/history/servants-lives-below-stairs
I've been thinking about how Victorian Era scientists accomplished so much work, until I came across this:
The Darwin family lived at Down House with a butler, cook, gardener, coachman, housemaid, two nursery maids, and a governess for the girls.
Never less than 8 servants lived at Down House.
My kid insists that the chair in her room cannot be facing her bed during the night.
She says itβs because if she wakes up in the night she thinks a monster might be in it watching her
But if itβs facing the desk, then the monster is probably just playing Minecraft and she can ignore it.
Plans to invade Greenland have just been cancelled after this
It really did! I was expecting it to be a whole nother type of humor but it felt exactly like what I imagine watching the muppet show in the 70s felt like
Just because good news is worth celebrating:
There is now a Prep medication that is an *every six month* injection.
HIV has, effectively, a vaccination.
The very best guests are the ones who simply ARE muppets at heart. Elton John is 100% muppet. Surprisingly, Rudolf Nureyev too! And Milton Berle was a rare exception to the comedian rule, got right down on Fozzyβs level.
Congrats Sabrina, youβve reached muppet show royalty in my book π
My considered opinion from watching dozens of old episodes is:
The worst guests are comedians. They try to be funny, but you canβt out-funny a muppet.
The middle tier are singers. They donβt have to do anything special, muppets love to gather round a singer.
Ok the new muppet show is amazing. Sabrina Carpenter is my favorite type of Muppet Show guest: the celebrity who is secretly actually just a muppet
Post from r/crochet that says "mods are gone. All hail Mr. Nipples" and its a picture of the most disgusting crocheted doll/creature thats pink and has a creepy smile and horns and big pink nipples. It's truly horrifying
I need everyone to know that on the crochet subreddit the mods made a big post about how they're taking a week off because there was too much fighting/political posts. so there's currently no mods on r/crochet and people are being absolutely insane
If WB can make Lego everything how does Disney not just have Muppet everything? Muppet Avengers, Muppet The Mandalorian, Muppet Cars.
I hadnβt known this. Two men who were accused of sexual abuse on the Shitty Media Men document that I created back in 2017 reached out to Michael Wolff for help as they looked to sue me, and Wolf forwarded their concerns to Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein offered to help. www.jmail.world/thread/EFTA0...
Weβve been getting mail and I have never been prouder of myself
Itβs 2026. There is a measles outbreak in the prison for babies
The lower left is indeed pink, not brown. Itβs a muted millennial pink that doesnβt photograph well.
The baby pink one is a blend that includes merino and angora, but itβs not like Iβve found THAT in any other color.
Oh I did find a gray cashmere once, repaired the holes and gave it to my son.
