Arguably the core is a very serious movie in terms of what they're trying tonally, it's like a space movie, dying off one by one, heoric sacrifices, versus, let's say, Torque which is supermely silly and knows it to the bones.
Oh yeah, that's idiotic.
For me, when I am going to watch like, THE CORE or MOONFALL, that's a stupid movie and it's all the better because of it.
The same way I can eat greasy fatty foods and chocolate custard and aknowledge that it's not particularly healthy for my body, if I sat there going "Well I like it, so that means it's healthy" would be... delusional. It's more honest to say "Fuck it I'm in the mood for food that's bad for me today"
I think something can be enjoyable while also being stupid, it would be incredibly narcicisstic to assert that just because I like something means it's objectively of high artistic value because the opposite isn't true. If I dislike something, that doesn't make it "bad".
HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!!!!
Is absolutely everyone on the Pit just incredibly hot?
I'm sorry, it makes me laugh when people argue that nobody who doesn't live in a state can talk about elections in that state. Let me tell you about who felt qualified to weigh in on a recent mayoral election where I live...
Dear Straight people, we PROMISE you that saying "what if he's gay and having gay sex with this other person we don't like" is never funny. This is true of EVERY single person
All it does is cement the truth that straights, deep down, still think gay stuff is gross and perverted.
At what point are we gonna stop treating the worst people in society like some smol bean who didn't know any better and just wasn't spoken to nicely enough and so they kill kids and we should understand that's only a natural response....
I will concede there is a percentage of people being misled, but in the age we are in you can easily find correct and good info, you have to choose to ignore it... π€·ββοΈ
I dunno, I'm just flashing back to the article I found as a kod about the parents who felt that Vaccines gave their kid autism, so they tried to cure it with a bleach enema and killed the kid.
It's actually relatively easy to find the good information, so many people WANT a conspiracy.
Is Panic Fest still using Gen AI for all their marketing materials?
I would have everyone BUT dracula surf throughout the entire season.
Given hallucinations are baked in to most forms of machine learning, is the error rate between it and trained editors gonna be any different?
Ironically pointing out that they see themselves as Kylo Ren in Last Jedi... Rian Johnson had them pinned for over a decade.
finally watched Casablanca. wild in this day and age for something to actually live up to the hype
31 years ago today, Krusty the Clown first mentioned saying βthe quiet part loud,β an expression which has since gone on to widespread usage.
#TheSimpsons episode βA Star is Burnsβ first aired March 5, 1995.
Doubly so when the republican candidate is running for an illegal third term.
It's gonna be insane when the next presidential election is like a 50/50 split with half of the US still voting for trump.

I wonder how many negative reactions or "the movie isnt about anything" takes were reacting to the hype and not the actual film itself?
at some friendsβ place, rewatching Weapons, and honestly all my initial misgivings about it have evaporated. movieβs great, and a real achievement.
Oh damn, sold out.
Nostalgia is really useful but it's become an all consuming drug imo, and from the monstrous Ian Holm Slop in Alien Romulus, to Hocus-Pocus-But-with-bad-lighting it's absolutely destroying art.
We can just re-watch the thing we love, parading aging actors around in costumes that fit them 20+ years ago and having them just go "Hey remember that thing you liked from ages ago, wasn't that so cool?" is just not a fun time, and if anything, increases the anxiety of mortality in the worst way.
I need to get onto Islingtons series!
I want that gay superman shirt.
I'm more interested in seeing him take on King we haven't seen done well before.
Arguably, part of what made Firefly become special was the fact that it ended too soon.
This endless nostalgia porn approach where we pump actors full of botox and have them quote the thing we liked but with worse lighting and slowed down versions of the theme music is driving me insane.
