“Refunds … would have significant consequences for the U.S. Treasury”
I know the feeling. I robbed a bank and when I got caught, they made me return the money. It had significant consequences for my finances, and it wasn’t fair.

The United States is not actually in a constitutional crisis. Our Constitution works just fine.
We are in a crisis of character — where nearly every single person who has sworn an oath to uphold our Constitution and enforce the law lacks the courage, moral fiber, and decency to do what is right.
Never Say Marginally Significant
Bronze plaque saying "A Letter to the Future. Ok is the first Icelandic glacier to lose its status as a glacier. In the next 200 years all our glaciers are expected to follow the same path. This monument is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it. August 2019. 415ppm CO2"
TIL about a memorial ceremony in Iceland in 2019 to mark the end of a glacier, changing the place name from Okjökull to Ok (jökull = glacier). Uncompromising wording on the bronze plaque:
"This is to acknowledge that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. Only you know if we did it".
Indeed. It's sometimes (often?) harder to do things the right way in medical/health research because editors/reviewers stop you from doing it.

Can you please publish this in JAMA, and every other medical journal under the sun, so clinicians will stop asking for post-hoc power analysis and I can stop pulling out my hair😂
Is no one even going to mention the craziness of paying a football coach (one that is likely to leave or be fired well within his contract, if history is any guide) an amount of money that would fund entire science and humanities departments?

This is profoundly irresponsible by AGSulzberger’s NYT, @by-cjewett.bsky.social +eds.
The normalization, “view-from-nowhere”, “born-yesterday”, stenography, “both-sides”, irresponsible headline are disgraceful.
THE story is the CDC&FDA are being destroyed by antiscience & Americans will die.

Will someone please ask the 89 million Americans who didn't vote in the last election if they are being affected by anything this administration is doing to the other Americans?
No matter how long I live after we get through this dark chapter, I will never get over the immorality, the amorality, the corruption, the criminality and the cruelty in service to one of the worst humans to ever walk the earth.

"Health losses attributed to anthropogenic climate change," a brief communication in the journal Nature Climate Change. There's a map showing regions of the world, and pie charts of relevant studies as they apply to different health impacts like "heat-related deaths" and "maternal and child health"
🚨 NEW: Climate change is already causing 30,000 deaths per year - a global annual economic loss of $100-350B USD - but the true damage is probably 10x higher. Out TODAY in Nature Climate Change: the first systematic look at the science of "health impact attribution" 🔓 www.nature.com/articles/s41...
The Department of Justice has removed a study showing that white supremacist and far-right violence “continues to outpace all other types of terrorism and domestic violent extremism” in the United States.

My numbers might be off, but I have ~32% voted for Trump, ~31 voted for Harris, ~37% did not vote?
Chris, I just subscribed. Your work is excellent, thank you for everything you do!
Thanks Tom. Now that song is stuck in my brain and I can't get it out.🤣
