30 Bible Verses on Women Leading - Marg Mowczko
Here are 30 of my favourite Bible verses that show women leading, teaching, prophesying, and positively influencing their communities.
"International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women."
Here are 30 Bible passages about women whose achievements benefited their communities, and even nations, and are worth celebrating.

Esther's Story Archives - Marg Mowczko
Here is a 3-part series on the book of Esther, focusing on the heroine at the centre of the story. What does the Bible reveal about Esther?
Purim this year is on the evening of March 2, and continues on Tuesday, March 3.
Chapter 9 of the Book of Esther ends with these words, "Esther’s decree confirmed these regulations about Purim, and it was written down in the records."
I have more about Esther here.

Bible women who weren't "keepers at home" - Marg Mowczko
What does the Bible say, overall, about women as keepers at home (cf. Tit. 2:4–5)? Does the Bible forbid women from working outside the home?
What Paul says about women in Titus 2, including the "keeper/ busy at home" idea, is not the sum total of what the Bible says about women.
Many women who are portrayed in a positive light in the Bible were not primarily "keepers at home." (From my archives.)

Ephesians 5:22-33 in a Nutshell - Marg Mowczko
In what way (or ways) is the relationship between Jesus and the church a model for marriage? What does Paul mean in Ephesians 5:22-33?
Paul's instruction to love as Christ loved the church is not a special obligation of husbands only.
He instructed everyone to "love as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us ... (Eph. 5:2).
I've compared his language in Eph. 5:2 and Eph. 5:25 (to husbands) here.

Harnack's positive descriptions of NT women ministers - Marg Mowczko
More than a century ago, church historian Adolf von Harnack was honest in his appraisal of women ministers mentioned in the New Testament.
The understanding that women were leaders and teachers in NT churches is not new. More than a century ago, respected church historian Adolf von Harnack was honest and approving in his appraisal of women ministers mentioned in the New Testament. I quote him here.

Paul's Masculine and Feminine Leadership - Marg Mowczko
Paul describes his ministry in maternal and paternal terms.
Paul described his apostolic ministry in maternal and paternal terms. And Moses described his leadership in maternal terms.
It seems God does not want his people led only in a "masculine" manner. (From my archives.)

Jezebel of Thyatira: A Female False Prophet - Marg Mowczko
What does her example brings to discussions about women in ministry?
Hi Lucy, I have an article with the title "Jezebel of Thyatira," but much of the "info" is general rather than specifically about this woman who is clearly a leader of a congregation.

God on Divorce (Malachi 2:16) - Marg Mowczko
Better translations of Malachi 2:16, that faithfully reflect the Hebrew grammar, do not say that God hates divorce.
10 years ago, I learned that there are good reasons to think that "God hates divorce" is an INCORRECT interpretation of Malachi 2:16, and I learned that several highly respected English translations convey a completely DIFFERENT interpretation.

Tabitha: An Exemplary Disciple (Acts 9:36-42) - Marg Mowczko
What did Tabitha's ministries involve?
Some Anglican, Episcopal, and Lutheran Churches commemorate Lydia, Tabitha/ Dorcas, and Phoebe as "coworkers with the apostles" on January 27 or 29.
Here's something I wrote about Tabitha. Her ministry is often underestimated, but the church in Joppa valued her.
