“You know, for me, the action IS the juice.”
“You know, for me, the action IS the juice.”
I don’t care if they get John Williams to do the score, “Passing Breeze” had better be on it!
And they’ll respond with their fervent protest anthem: the fearsome sound of a million latchkeys “zip-zipping” in unison.
God - astonishing. One of the best to ever do it
For a guy who seems to get Oscar nominations every time he opens a script, it’s so strange that his best performances weren’t even nominated. “Courage Under Fire” comes to mind. The image of this regal figure slowly crumbling from the inside still haunts me.
Exactly this. The scenes were good but the movie was perfectly paced. There’s no way an action movie of its scope today would have been kept to under 2 hours like that one was.
So has a diss track ever won the Record of the Year #Grammy before?
I’ve been watching #CaptainAmerica: The Winter Soldier for more than a decade, and I’m only just now noticing that Robert Redford’s fridge has a jar of Paul Newman’s marinara sauce. Well played, Marvel - well played. Butch and Sundance live!
It’s rarely included in the pantheon of Greatest TV Episodes, but “Sex and the City’s” “The Post-It Always Rings Twice” is on my list. Cracks me up every time.
It’s a weird case. He has a big role as a secondary antagonist. But he’s uncredited AND heavily disguised; his very presence was considered a spoiler; some didn’t know it was him until the credits. I think the surprise element & his A-list status outweigh the screentime factor, so I’m Team Cameo. 🤔
Tom Cruise in “Tropic Thunder”: cameo or no?
One of the more common criticisms of “Star Trek: Section 31” is that it plays like a failed TV pilot, which is why I’m just gonna call it “Star Trek: Fox Force Five”
NFL punters after tonight’s #Commanders #Lions game.
After the #Commanders performance against the #Lions tonight, no #NFL team may ever punt again.
I said it before and I’ll say it again #NFL #Commanders
[Me yesterday] My New Year’s Resolution is to finally shake my lifelong habit of deeply reveling in any and all humiliations of Duke, no matter how large or small.
[Me tonight]
…
OK, maybe I could just learn Spanish?
Jor-El: “I will abide by the decision of the council. Neither I nor my wife will leave Krypton.”
[Next Scene]
Lara: “Last I checked, I’m not on the council. YOU stay here and get blown up to make a point. The baby and I are leaving!”
- If my wife and I were Superman’s parents.
The increased practice of going for it on 4th down is an analytics success story and easily the best thing about modern football.
Perfect casting.
With the Alpha Quadrant now safe and his moral compass severely compromised, an emboldened Elmo now turns his attention to his next victim…
They definitely think that. They’re wondering why their service doesn’t earn them more treats!
Oh, and they should pass a federal law with draconian penalties that bans the use of the “Ring” windchimes in TV and movies. These idiots lose their minds over that!
As someone who lives w/2 excitable dogs, I so agree. TV/ movies should agree on a common sound effect for doorbells that sounds nothing like real doorbells. It’s like that 555 phone number they use: we all know it’s fake, but we collectively decided the greater good was more important than realism.
From Howard Bryant’s indispensable biography, “Rickey”:
I’d love to see that too. But let’s just say that James Bond visiting his elderly mom would be as canonically accurate as Bruce Wayne visiting his.
I’m 5 minutes in to “No Good Deed” on Netflix and the fact that there aren’t already 10 multi-million-dollar offers on that Los Feliz house is messing with my suspension of disbelief.
Introducing a prominent third wheel in the sequel to a beloved two-handler could have gone wrong a million different ways. And Pesci absolutely nailed it. If the Academy respected comedy, Pesci’s Oscar would have had an older brother for this movie.
That the builder’s only narrative function is to set up the nail gun fight one hour later, and yet he STILL brought the house down with that one line is just one of the reasons I love this movie so much.
