Several aides in the back visibly laughing. Several councilmembers do not look up from their desks.
One of the wildest parts of this revelation is that this is really the first Iβm aware of this being discussed. The standing city council president (ostensibly the most powerful or second most powerful person in local politics) being pretextual stopped days before a discussion on pretextual stops.
LA City Councilβs City President Marqueece Harris-Dawson says he has been pulled over four times while a member of the council; the most recent was this week. He missed a committee meeting because of the stop, according to him.
Among the questions: βhow do you have this vehicle,β according to him.

Calling it Citizen's Impeachment implies only one of us needs to decide to impeach him and that's very funny.
Daniel from Chicago has had enough. He wakes up, gets some orange juice and pushes the impeachment button. A new election is held.
You're free to quote-post the Mother Jones article about staff betting on detainee suicides with your zippy one-liner.
I am free to think your toxic level of ironic detachment has a lot more to do with the state of things than you will ever willingly admit.

disappointed to see they're following me. i'm an advocate for disability accessibility as a disabled person myself and put alt text on all my images. uninterested in folks who behave this way. if everyone put a little effort into making life easier for the disabled, we'd be in a better place.
These are the same people who would insist that it's not acceptable to walk down a street shoulder-checking anyone who impedes your path. They do not see the irony because they still haven't gotten it through their thick skulls that online etiquette ALSO requires considering other people's needs.
in general when making alt text, put the main points up front and save the nuance for after that. this lets people using screen readers interrupt and skip past the nuance if they're not interested
I love being Teachable Moments Guy so here are two quick tips for easy alt text:
- address the main point of the image as early as possible. what does the image depict, or what's your purpose in posting it?
- the name of the meme is more important than describing how it looks
on a side note i am so fucking tired of the overhyped exaggerated ass "Participation Trophy" trope. my millennial siblings didnt have very much of this, like at all. i worked in education, didn't see this being done. my kids don't experience it either. tf are they talkn bout? something they "heard"
i love it when our allies are just as toxic as the people trying to take away disability resources /s
Anyway, here is a handy guide to getting started with ALT text. It's an important way we can make people with visual impairments or neurological processing issues feel welcome on bluesky. bsky.app/profile/cats...
Screenshot of the following text βThe participation trophy generation needs to grow a fucking backbone. The world doesn't cater to you. I don't owe you shit. There is zero reason I should worsen my own health because of your virtue signaling. Don't like no alt text? Add some and stfu.β
I was tagged into an exchange where a βresistanceβ account had this to say to someone politely asking them to add ALT text to their images. Framing accessibility like people with disabilities are merely a bunch of whiny, entitled pussies is certainly aβ¦ choice. π
