Later series of Blakeβs 7 were very difficult to watch in Wales. Pushed around the schedules, broadcast without fanfare, what could have been more important?
Our podcast returns on Wednesday, with @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social and @gkw.bsky.social looking at TV shows from March 1979. That includes... #Blakes7
My mum - who is 91 - was good friends with ex-actress Dindy (Davindra) Stevens during their retirement years on the Hampshire coast. Dindy, who is no longer with us, was partial to a couple of port and brandies in the morning and was married (briefly) to Peter Wyngarde of Dept S.
Walking past the blue plaque to Kenneth Clarke near the BBC today reminded me of how much delight @gkw.bsky.social and I had watching the first episode of civilisation for the latest @squarewindowpod.bsky.social
Really loved this. Ian is one of my favourite people to read when it comes to writing about TV. Detailed, and with some killer turns of phrase.
Listening to Through The Square Window - Episode 6 February 1969 @squarewindowpod.bsky.social open.spotify.com/episode/3VFk...
Thanks, Peter!
Really enjoyed this episode and the appreciation of the comic chops of Denise Coffey in 'DNAYS'. Always such a funny performer but much underrated.
Happy birthday Graeme Garden!! Coming soon to @squarewindowpod.bsky.social ....
We're against banter, generally. Thanks for such a nice comment, Gareth.
Really enjoying this, file under 'focussed pod' in that the presenters actually stick to the topic in hand, which I know not everyone wants, but I'm in my 50s, life is short, I have a finite appetite for waffling banter.
Thereβs already a whole lotta love for this. Do listen and send us your thoughts by Sunday so we can include them in our next epβ¦
A highlight of my month
Thank you Chris!
That's so kind. Thank you!
A Criminal Practice, a comic play by Terrance Dicks first broadcast on 5 July 1967, is being repeated on Radio 4 Extra today at 3pm and 9pm; afterwards, itβll be available on BBC Sounds - www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m...
Through the Square Window episode six is out now! This month, @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social and @gkw.bsky.social look at shows from February 1969, namely: Do Not Adjust Your Set, Civilisation, Saturday Night Theatre (with Sean Connery) and Department S. Available wherever you get your podcasts.
That's really interesting. This might mean the 'ITV' to our 'BBC' makes another interjection next ep.
The other is that the three productions were for charity. Connery, Caine, and Scofield all waived their fees, and ATV donated a big wedge of cash towards an actors' charity or retirement home or something like that.
Enjoyed the podcast as usual. A couple of things that stick in my mind about MacNeil and the other two plays is that they were all shot twice - once in PAL, once in NTSC - so a slightly different performance may still exist out there.
Am seeing into the future.. And Ep 7 of @squarewindowpod.bsky.social looks very promising..
You will love this episode! Jason King says click on this immediately.. pod.fo/e/38d509
We're recording the next episode this weekend, so do get in touch ASAP, please, if you've anything to say about today's instalment. We love hearing from you!

Prepare for arrival tomorrow in 1969..
This is definitely my fave episode of @squarewindowpod.bsky.social so far....
New ep of Through the Square Window out tomorrow, with @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social and @gkw.bsky.social looking at TV shows from Feb 1969, including Department S. But what's its direct link to Kenneth Clark's Civilisation?
On Wednesday, @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social and @gkw.bsky.social return with a new episode of Through the Square Window (available wherever you get your podcasts) looking at shows from Feb 1969. And that includes this edition of Saturday Night Theatre...
