I'm so, so happy to see you back! I was afraid we'd lost you for good, and have really missed your daily doses of beauty and sanity. I'm very sorry to learn of the difficult times you've been through, and wish you and your loved ones joy and health for the New Year. 🎄🌹💚

THEY'RE BACK...IN BLACK (birds)
Red-winged Blackbirds, must have moved north for awhile but today multiple families arrived for breakfast.
The boys are quarreling while the girls are trying to enjoy their meal in peace.

Just finished it - a brilliant read. Hopefully others in that situation can learn from it and be influenced away from toxic behaviour. An eye-opener. Thanks!
Yep (pre-ordered). Just started it today. It's great!
I clicked everywhere except actually ON the bit of the text I could see... d'oh! It's a lovely story, thank you for sharing it.
How do I access the whole story? The only thing I can see is that first (beautiful) photo and its caption. Clicking around gets me nowhere!
"This image captures a peaceful moment in nature: two pond slider turtles resting on a log in the middle of a lake. The water surrounding them is calm and beautifully reflects shades of green, yellow, and blue from the trees and sky above. Their relaxed posture suggests they are basking in the sunlight, embracing the warmth. The reflection in the water adds depth to the scene, creating a mesmerizing visual effect. The image is signed "© Swede's Photographs" in the bottom right corner, giving credit to the photographer." - Copilot

This is one of my early photographs, featuring two pond slider turtles (Trachemys scripta) resting on a log in the middle of a lake. ...

A beautiful squid showing bands of cream and tan, with bright green and yellow over the eyes, two tentacles curled up and raised and the others slightly curled and dropped...squid body language for "what *are* you and do you have food?" :)
Let's go underwater for #InverteFest with one of the smartest and prettiest invertebrates I know, my companions on many a night dive, S. lessoniana, the Oval or Bigfin squid (depending on who you ask). This one was very curious about the large, clumsy vertebrate with the bright light. :) 📷🌿🐙🦑

A collage made up of 10 photos I’ve taken in museums of ancient Egyptian blue hippo figurines. They hippos are made of Egyptian faience with is a ceramic material made of quartz, decorated in black pigment with depictions of Nile river plants, e.g. lotus flowers. These figurines are associated with the life-giving Nile and regeneration. It’s thought they were placed in Middle Kingdom tombs some 4,000 years ago to help with the rebirth of the deceased in the afterlife.
It’s #WorldHippoDay! 🦛 ❤️
To celebrate and spread some hippo happiness here are some Ancient Egyptian blue hippos made by artisans some 4,000 years ago!
Which is your favourite? 😍
Photos my own.

I love Hampstead Heath, in all seasons, and always will. Do you happen to have any pictures (even photos) of the Heath during or around the years that the young Thomas Hardy lived in London (1862-1867)? Or recommendations where (online) I might see some?
😂
Just looked, and nowt... Can only see your genuine posts, and it does show me following you, as I certainly did/do. A search of your name gives only a few obvious fakes (unless that's really their name) and a parody account that makes it very clear he's not you. Screenshot from about 5 minutes ago:
A clear night so I couldn't resist a wander amongst the stars. Taken in Glastonbury about 30 minutes ago. Sheep nestle below the wonder at the bottom of the scene.
Burns Night tonight. Followed uncomfortably closely by Smithers Night.
In spite of the huge damaging storm that's just passed, our Bobbin was up on the kitchen windowsill as normal, demanding her oat flakes and walnut crumbs!
My sunset photograph from Wednesday in Glastonbury in today's Times online. 👏👏Shining like a beacon as the sun set directly inline with the archway of St Michael's tower on Glastonbury Tor. Have a fabulous Friday everyone and stay safe.
Your photos are one of the things that help me fight off that sense of doom. Please keep creating and posting them!
So glad to see you here! A voice of sanity. Following you now -
Until I recently read a book on the history of Broadway shows, I had no idea what an amazing singer Patricia Routledge apparently was - in addition to her straight acting roles. People loved her. Me too. 💚
I love that rogue ear!
Did your child lose their book collection in the Los Angeles fires? Are you a teacher at a school that lost its library or your classroom library? Whether you need one book or a whole library, we can replace your books. 📚
Everyone else, please boost this post so we can connect with those in need. 🙏
Not to mention a full staff of servants to mind the kids and take care of the cooking & housework. The more their PR machine tries to shove her down our throats, the more I resist.
