only the mantis shrimp truly knows the difference between ecru and eggshell
Only quietly under my breath
Well I still havenโt given up on โmomentarilyโ meaning โfor a momentโ when most people use it incorrectly to mean โin a momentโ so
Which is exactly what I said in my original response. Itโs usually used to mean centrist, which is incorrect
I consider myself a moderate leftist
Talarico id say is also a moderate leftist if only in presentation. His views are very lefty but he doesnโt come off as strident or radical, so he appeals to other moderates
Many moderates will take liberal or conservative positions but only when asked because theyโre not super engaged
Other moderates can take on extreme positions but be open to discussion
My views are pretty far left but Iโm not absolutist and Iโm open to compromise and good faith discussion so
โCentristโ refers to where you are on the left - right political spectrum. Iโd argue it almost doesnโt exist anymore.
โModerateโ refers to a relative lack of fervor for whatever your position is.
So โฆ
I think "moderate" and "centrist" aren't interchangeable terms, but are often used as if they are
I think Trump genuinely doesnโt know what an asylum claim is, and heard the word one day and assumed it meant insane asylums and nobody has corrected him
Has anyone tried to explain to him what asylum means, do we think?

I donโt think it was inadvertent
It was very adverdent
Why canโt Fulham supporters have nice things
Feels like we shoulda got more than $25k or whatever it was for him
Holy cripes
Genius
When Dr Robby & Dana were surveying the chaos my teen kid said โtheyโre the parentsโ
Thatโs not true everywhere - 18 states have open primaries. Wisconsin (where I live) doesnโt even have party registration.
Flagellation is always worth a try
You havenโt yet admitted you were wrong without immediately following with some form of โbut Iโm not a racistโ
Thatโs why I said seemed to. You definitely did the defensive thing for a bit there, and then settled into โI didnโt mean itโ and then continued to differentiate between yourself and Nazi Klan members or something
โAt least Im not flying a confederate flagโ isnโt helpful
again
Racist is an adjective, not a noun.
You arenโt โa racistโ
But you said and did some racist things.
The first step in becoming anti-racist, as a white person, is acknowledging our own racism when it happens
Right, and you seemed to be trying to excuse yourself by saying โit wasnโt intentionalโ and โIโm not a racistโ which are not entirely related.
Nobodyโs disputing that.
What youโre missing is in the case of unintentional racism, โI didnโt mean toโ doesnโt make the harm disappear
Iโd offer the idea that sometimes your Black friends let it slide and donโt feel safe or just donโt want to bother calling you in if you do an accidental racism
(Heโs adopted) (Iโm still white with a hard h)
Right, if itโs added with a negative connotation thatโs different
One time I was at my kidโs soccer game and someone asked my dad which kid was his grandson and he was like ummm the one with theee ummm jacket? And the socks? And i said dad itโs ok you can say โthe black oneโ lol
A white lady was saying how beautiful a Hmong funeral was, and how a lot of the elements were the same as a normal funeral
(Record scratch)
I asked what she meant by normal and she was like ope
Thatโs inadvertent racism
Thatโs not really inadvertent racism, I donโt think. Blackness is almost always relevant to Black people. Noting race isnโt necessarily racist. Better example:
Yes but that doesnโt mean unintentional racism is harmless
