The tech industry is giving me so much cognitive dissonance because everyone claims that #AI is here to stay but also everyone is trying to use it frantically as if it might all just go away www.tawandamunongo.dev/notes/#gasli...
Not given to City of course. How is that is natural position?
I guess that the new ref is learning well.
CNN must be on some other internet i don't know about
Hereβs part 1 of this weekβs 4-part Better Offline Enshittifinancial Crisis Special. I walk you through stage 4 of enshittification, when companies decide to enshittify shareholders, and the concept of stock itself.

...so much leverage to increase their prices knowing that their users have become so reliant on these tools that they'll just have to pay.
It has been so impactful, though, that I've genuinely found myself questioning whether I still want to be a software engineer.
...by virtue of being used to those tools, but they still have an eye for design that they could, if forced, still use in a different app. But if #AI is writing all your code, you're susceptible to being rug-pulled by the provider. Not that they might discontinued the product, but they've got...
Let's say you're a developer who can code. You own the means of production. If you neglect that skill and lean heavily on AI products, you invariably end up relying on a tech company to do your work. In this sense, LLMs are not just "tools". A designer may be trapped in, for example, Adobe suite...
Google's AI overview are an absolute waste of screen real estate and fundamentally toxic to the web.
I also think that all this will accelerate the return of modern day feudalism. Even as I see the benefits of AI, I also recognise the danger of outsourcing your skilled labour
LLMs can build genuinely usable demos, often with little input. I reckon their best use case will be for programmers. Outside of that, I don't want an "agentic OS". I've seen apps that replaced working native search with broken "AI-powered" alternatives. All those endeavours will probably fail
As an avid reader of @edzitron.com's newsletter, I'm still skeptical about the economics of it all. I also hate the fact that it's all built on scraping independent creator content with 0 permission and compensation, but it's becoming clear to me that software engineering will never be same
I've written a lot on my blog about #AI in the last 2 years, expressing skepticism about all the hype, but the last couple of months brought improvements that I believe have made it hard to continue being a non-believer

Morning Star newspaper page with the headline "will FIFA stand up for World Cup fans over US travel bans?"
Infantino once said that if supporters can't access a World Cup host country, there will be no World Cup. This week, Trump banned travel to the US from 12 countries, including one already qualified for the 2026 World Cup. What will FIFA do? This weekend's Morning Star column.
Perfect title β the famous quote from The Great Gatsby which i also used as the opener of my memoir Burn Book. We need more insiders there and elsewhere to come forward and explain what happened since these careless people have never been more powerful. apnews.com/article/meta...
Wise man in a sweater in his home library π contemplating: I don't know what word in the English language --I can't find one-- applies to people who are willing to sacrifice the literal existence of organized human life so they can put a few more dollars into highly stuffed pockets. The word 'evil' doesn't even begin to approach it. ~Noam Chomsky

#ManCity are out of the UEFA Champions League.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think City are playing with 10 men
If you're a #mancity fan like me looking for some source of optimism before tonight's game, remember that we've played Madrid 7 times in the #UCL since 2022, and they have only beaten us twice in normal time.
If we go all the way back to 2020, we've won 4/9 to their 2/9 with the rest being drawn
