Hidy and Howdy were the mascots for the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary.
Considered to be two of the most successful Olympic mascots in history, they were seen everywhere in the years leading up to the Games.

On Dec. 6, 1917 at 8:45 a.m., the Imo and Mont-Blanc (which was packed with explosives) collided in Halifax Harbour.
At 9:05 a.m., the Mont-Blanc exploded. The 2.9 kiloton blast levelled most of Halifax, killed 1,700 and injured 9,000.
