Expecting | Poetry Northwest I want love & not fear but these are the same.

“My sister lies awake, recording sputters
that drum her belly like two bagged birds.

These days I want to sleep, really sleep, with the window
thrown open. I want to meet my sister’s son.”

Israel has just assassinated two Palestinian journalists. I learned about the assassination of Hossam Shabat from breaking news that interrupted the news of the assassination of Mohammad Mansour.
Hossam’s car was targeted by an Israeli missile.

Tired
by Langston Hughes

I am so tired of waiting,
Aren’t you,
For the world to become good
And beautiful and kind?
Let us take a knife
And cut the world in two —
And see what worms are eating
At the rind.

new David Wojciechowski ALWAYS a cause for celebration!

"The director is having fun with angles. He falls down the stairs. He fires a gun at his temple and the ocean pours out. Two ghosts float out of an accident. They spiral like water and disappear..."

Winter Poem

Nikki Giovanni

once a snowflake fell
on my brow and i loved
it so much and i kiss
it and it was happy and called its cousins
and brothers and a web
of snow engulfed me then
i reached to love them all
and i squeezed them and they became
a spring rain and i stood perfectly
still and was a flower
