I found this scene in deep shade near the entrance of a slot canyon. To me the leaf looked like a sailor lost at sea. The frothy foreground texture of rain drops in the sand adds to the feeling of turbulent seas.

This photo was also taken on last monthβs visit to North Coyote buttes. I love the soft pastel color palette of Provia in subdued light. Photographed on Fuji Provia 100F 8x10 film with my Chamonix Alpinist X 8x10 camera and a Fujinon C 450mm lens.
Itβs time to start working on this yearβs zine. Preorders begin next month.
For those in California that need to upgrade to a Real ID, submitting scans of your documents online allows you to go in the appointment line at the DMV without an appointment. I only spent 20 minutes or so at the DMV. Utterly painless.

This is my final photo from my February visit to Death Valley. While hiking down an alluvia fan, I spotted this white rock cradled by a dead desert holly. Photographed on Fuji Provia 100f 8x10 film with my Chamonix Alpinist X and a Fujinon A 240mm lens.

Whenever I see the word βFlatironβ, I read it as βFalitronβ β which sounds more like a Transformer.
A photo from my February visit to the desert. It was a dry and windy winter, and I loved how course sand was blown among the mud tiles. Photographed on Fuji Provia 100f 8x10 film with my Chamonix Alpinist X camera and a Fujinon C 300mm f/8.5 lens.
On a windy day in Death Valley, I hiked to a canyon that was sheltered from the wind and photographed this wonderful glow. Photographed on Fuji Provia 100f 8x10 film with my Chamonix Alpinist X camera and a Fujinon A 240mm lens.
For scenes like this, a bit of front tilt is required. Combine that with stopping down a bit, and I get most everything in focus. This was taken at f/45 on a lens that stops down to f/90.

Ever have the urge to stand outside a coffee shop and ask people what time it is?
This is hilarious on many levels. I mean, Mesa Arch? Itβs clearly a place I hang out with all my hot influencer friends.

Anyone else have a cat that demands to be spun?
Iβve received my shipment of zines, and they turned out great. I spotted one mistake, but itβs no biggie. I used the same caption for 2 photos. But those are the sort of imperfections that make our work real, something I reference in the introduction.
They sure are useful! I double box the portfolios with a smaller form-fitting rectangular box inside a larger square box for corner protection.
For those who have ordered a zine, I will receive the shipment from the print shop on Friday and will begin shipping print portfolio orders with bundled zines first. After that, Iβll ship individual zine orders. Print portfolio only orders have already shipped.
