Even with all concerns on whether DEI was done well, to see how Tech companies are bending the knee to new king leaves a bad taste. Sure, fix programs, rebalance, make it less one sided etc. but do not make it look like you're just paying tribute.

Decade ago I was happy doing tons of business trips, being able to see bits of the world i couldn't afford to see normally. Small bits, after long office hours and mandatory dinners. Today, i still love to travel, but on my own terms. Less decorum, more sipping bubble tea in some coffee or garage ;)
NYE in Singapore is unique. Warm, safe, no alcohol, quiet (fireworks only in few locations), great food, long walks(cause bus did not arrive...). It's like a NYE's version for fit freaks. No headache the day after, but also a bit lingering feeling that this day should be bit more wild.
This year was wild... Enough of crazy ride for some time. Can i get some calm and predictable times, pretty please?
Sad streak of game dev studios letting ppl go continues, this time with PCF. Sad to see it, i feel for ppl impacted. Always thinking how much of that (not PCF only) situation is due to economy, crazy growth or management practices
I still don't understand the necessity of banning poppy seeds in some countries. My favorite childhood cake was based on those and regretfully i haven't got high even single time. Christmas without "makowiec" is a waste
Da Lat (Vietnam) is an interesting place, messy, with beautiful views, not yet very touristy. Awesome quality of good and drinks, but quite hard to get grasp of things here.
Far from having Musk-like comment of "going to extinct" countries, but one has to recognize potential of vast young and hungry generation of citizens. Difference between Singapore and Vietnam is striking
I so much enjoy visiting Vietnam, country is vibrant, food is one of the best, but the immigration queue to HCM is nightmarish. Like "Polish ppl trying to get to USA in 90s" kind of nightmarish. I heard there is new airport coming up soon, it cannot come soon enough.
Some old things:
- Freespace 2 (quite ahead of it's time, still had community years after)
- SpecOps: The Line (story for that time was innovative)
- Enemy Territory (not so many ppl played compared to CS, but also created lasting community)
My Singapore friends: Christmas is not a big thing here, a bit sof hopping event
Mall in SGP:
Yeah, it's a challenge. I try to get where the perspective is coming from (e.g. whether it's gov stance or personal) and then use a bit of personal stories and humor to show other way of thinking. Not very effective though, ppl believe the person but they think govs will do what they want either way
this seems to be so far off the perceived reality in NATO country. The only thing we are capable and willing to invade is a buffet on all-inclusive holidays, not the country on the other side of the world.
Interesting and bit head scratching to see perception of invasion on Ukraine from Singapore or Chinese nationals. Various different opinions, one that struck me was that support for Russia was necessary to avoid NATO taking over Russia and endangering China from north. Being from NATO country
One of hopes when relocating to Asia was abundance and variety of absolutely awesome food. Happy to report this perk is alive and well. Highlight of the day: Vietnamese Chao Tom
How to concede that you're old? Seeing ppl everywhere in zombie smartphone mode irks me off. It's not like i want to talk to them, but jeeez, so many beautiful, small things will pass you by.... or you'll walk into the wall or dog shit
Singapore being extremely practical on many fronts of cultural integration. Even Christmas trees are ever present despite population not being predominantly Christian
Soo, the government workers in Singapore have created 1000+ bors, chatbots etc. to aid their work. Dedicated platform, support from the top. Wondering how such transformation looks back in European governments.
All this while listening to Celine Dion.
Sitting in cab, morning rush in Singapore. Old guy on a bike falls while crossing in front. Driver gets out, checks on car, does not check on cyclist. My instincts are opposite. Wondering if it's individual or cultural diff.
