Part of why I rate Galaxy so high is because of the 3D Allstars, I haven’t gotten around to getting Galaxy 2 on the Switch yet.

I probably should as well but also not in an incredible hurry either.

Gimmicky inclusions like blowing on the screen or the rooms where you turn on 3D. I played World on a Switch so it was more like a game and less gimmicky.

But don’t let my take on SMB3 change your enjoyment of the game. As I like to say “Don’t yuck other people’s yum.” If you love SMB3 don’t worry about what the Suezo avatar guy says.

The highs are incredibly high, but I feel like people ignore the lows. And I’ve never accepted the “you don’t have to play that part” as an excuse.

Playing a game is as much about the journey as the destination, wanting to skip parts of the journey is a bad thing.

I rate Super Mario Bros 3 low because if you don’t use warp whistles the game has too many levels where waiting is a mechanic. World 7 is the worst.

Lost Levels is high because I have the right sense of humor to see it as funny instead of frustrating.

But at the same time, I do want to remind everyone that the crash was localized to North America. Retailers and arcades overreacted to trends coming down the line, the rest of the world wasn’t in the same boat. So I will stress Teddy Ruxpin was important for the *North American* video game industry.

Now the toy is all but forgotten outside of Gen X nostalgia, but its role in helping shape the video gaming market in North America in the 80’s can’t be understated. This bear is why the NES is what it is.

Well Nintendo made a deal with Worlds of Wonder to require retailers to take so many NES consoles along with an order for so many Teddy Ruxpin toys. Ever think it was odd that Nintendo wanted the NES to not look like a toy but it was sold in toy stores? Now you know why.

Why is he relevant to gaming? Well after the North American video game crash of 1983, retailers thought video games were poison and refused to stock them. Ironically I think this did more to damage video games here than ET ever did. The crash was retailer enforced!

Teddy Ruxpin was the hot toy of its time; the Tickle Me Elmo, Furby, Wii, Beanie Baby, etc. of its day. Under that beige shirt is a cassette tape player and when you played a tape the doll would move his mouth. It came with taped stories Teddy would read to you.

It is a very good deal, but let’s be honest. The collection really should be like $30 normally right now.

Nintendo pricing is crazy.

I think the game turned out better for it, I think Ghostbusters works well as a sim instead of just an action game. Imagine a cross between this and X-Com, it could work so well.

Samurai Warriors 2 is a heck of a choice and I respect it.
