The press, 2026: Everything Biden did was imputed to reflect how old and feeble he was. NOTHING Trump does is imputed to reflect his abhorrent personal character. Peripatetic. Infuriated. Hanger-on at Balloon Juice. MSP / CO / WI

Didn't that thing flip over in a moderate cross breeze? Wheel base is way too short for 75mph highways (but beyond the specific car, your point is right on!).

Harper to the judge: "Your driver's license doesn't list your height and weight at birth. It doesn't list where you used to live. It identifies who you are now."

How big a draft is this going to be? And which taxpayers are going to just go along without complaint?

U.S. crude oil tops $90 per barrel after Trump demands unconditional surrender from Iran

KEY POINTS
President Donald Trump demanded unconditional surrender from Iran.

Qatar's energy minister, Saad al-Kaabi, told The Financial Times that Gulf exporters would halt production in days if tankers cannot pass the Strait of Hormuz.

This could spike oil prices to $150 a barrel in the coming weeks and "bring down the economies of the world," Kaabi said.

WTI is spiking, up to about $92/bbl right now.
Fun times ahead!!

Donald Trump is taking a hammer to the job market and making life more expensive for you.

The polycrisis has many sources, but this one is enragingly clear. RFK Jr, Trump who appointed him, and the GOP Senate. 😑

Sue them to the ground.

(I know, SCOTUS will uphold the practice that govt can't be sued without govt consent πŸ˜”)

Frey has never, once, replied to my messages. And I mean emails that are about specific city services where I need a reply, not just "hey, could ya do this policy".

Absolute sh*t constituent service. My CM's staffer called me with in 48 hours when I emailed on same issue (of a dept Frey manages).

Stock market is falling out of bed, gas prices spiking.
Target shoulda apologized and reversed course with in days of their fatal error a year ago.

Now? Bwahahaha, tough πŸ’©, guys. We're not coming back – their kind of shopping was 70% impulse extras anyway.

His diminished vocabulary is a sign of his decay. Not that the press is allowed to mention it.

Trump really just has a young child's grasp of things. Go back and listen to him from 20 years ago, he was a jerk but he was far more able to understand and convey concepts beyond "This is bad, that's going great. Thank you for your attention."

This is good, clear language. The GOP is going to claim that Dems are "not patriotic", but we are a nation of laws & a Constitution.
Trump & Republicans torching those things is what is clearly not patriotism!

Markewayne is truly an idiot's idiot, so we're all in for greater chaos.
At least this should mean Lewandowski's also gonna be job hunting.

She seems utterly unaware that for any even semi-literate American, saying "Orwell" is associated with dystopia. But she's (mis)quoting as if it supports her trash-authoritarian stance.

Noem is tragically dumb. But she's had executive office experience as governor.
Markewayne is too dumb to be a hitching post at a rodeo.

That leverage is why when sh*t starts to go south, recessions accelerate.

Like, here's a low- or no- interest bridge loan of $3K (+/-) *if you do not evict your distressed tenant*.

One exception I could foresee is the (relatively rare) homeowner with an ADU, or who bought a duplex to live in and relies on renting the other half to meet the mortgage.
But policies can be crafted for that–city $ assistance for *documented* one-unit landlords, with some sort of proof of hardship.

Given how many robots end up pushing suicide on their chat customers, I'm starting to think it's on purpose.

(I don't think the robots are 'alive' and plotting, I think they're programmed by people with no morals whatsoever.

Do nothingism, from a place of very low vulnerability, disguised as above it all noble remove.

The addiction to both sides, IMO, reflects a desire by Times readers to pretend they are 'informed' yet the only response to the decay is "a pox on both houses."
If each party is bad, as they tendentiously see it, then as moderate middles they have no choice. Just passively cluck at it all.

The corporate press will freak out for months about Joe Biden, tenaciously elevating every tiny misstep. But Republicans get a hall pass every single time.

And FFS these are not "moderate Democrats", they're functionally Republicans who lied about their party ID when they ran for office!!
