International Women's Day 2026: WIMN Celebrates Resilience, Re-opens Membership

As IWD 2026 approaches, WIMN still finds reason to celebrate the resilience of our movements amidst the shrinking civic space. The challenge to expand and strengthen rights-based, strategic institutions and movements is ever more crucial. womeninmigration.org/2026/03/inte...

The Women in Migration Network (WIMN) opposes the United States attack on Venezuela and calls for an end to all U.S. military actions in that country and elsewhere. Just like any other nation, the people of Venezuela have the right to determine their own future.

Online and digital spaces should empower women and girls. Yet every day, for millions of them, the digital world has become a minefield of harassment, abuse, and control.

Behind every statistic are real women and girls with real lives, real stories, and real harm.

What is gender based violence?

GBV is violence shaped by gender, power, and inequality. When we understand its roots, we can challenge the norms and systems that allow it to continue.

Women and gender-diverse people are leading this journey. They are surviving, organizing, and demanding justice at every step. Their courage and resistance remind us that the struggle for safety and dignity is both urgent and collective.

On #WorldRefugeeDay, we affirm a simple yet vital principle: seeking asylum is a right, not a privilege. Detaining, deporting, or denying entry to people fleeing danger violates that right. Solidarity means action—care, commitment, and courage.

Today we celebrate women migrant domestic workers — essential caregivers, breadwinners, & movement-builders who power homes & economies.
Their labor deserves recognition, protection, and justice. It’s time to ratify ILO Convention 189 on Decent Work for Domestic Workers.
