I am Team Never Keycard out of spite, so if I get it, I'm getting it digital. If they're gonna make me download a ton of stuff for a keycard, I may as well download the whole game. I also don't ever sell my games, so the 'advantage' of resale means nothing to me.

Ooh, you may need to recheck that QR code! YouTube recently took down the original RickRoll video after it got incorrectly flagged for copyright infringement.

I have never understood the point of taking personal photos of landmarks. Professionals do it way better, so why take yet another photo to add to the hundreds of thousands of them? So when I'm on vacation I take unique photos with no context. Below is a parking bollard near the Seattle Space Needle.

People always mention "oh, Arthur Conan-Doyle believed in Mysticism, like seances" as a fun trivia fact. So then you think- oh, the Sherlock author just had a guilty pleasure hobby. No, no. The man went HARD. The fanboys try to downplay this, lest he get removed from Serious Literary Canon.

Without backscroll or wiki-- I believe the Christmas yellow door confirms she is alive but wants nothing to do with him for unclear reasons. August seems civil with her, but based on boss interaction they were never married or even dating. And... I think that is all.

I think it's more like... in order to be outstanding at their craft, all of these authors must also be very skilled at specific writing-based fundamentals- word choice, description, narrative flow, pacing, and such. So even if they're made to write in a new genre, the fundamentals are there.

If trans people want/need to leave, that is worthy. It’s also worthy to stay and fight, or to need to stay and still need rights. Queer folks in red states need and deserve our support at least as much as the work being done from β€œsafer” states

the problem is bigotry, but the tool they're using to spread it is *the concept of pornography*. as long as we accept the idea that "pornography" is

1. meaningfully distinct from other forms of art, and
2. inherently bad or shameful

it will continue to be a weapon conservatives can use against us!

β€œGreat Man” theories of history may have been wrong but β€œThat F*ing Guy” theory looks increasingly plausible.

For those unaware, Space has already shifted focus to building a self-growing city on the Moon, as we can potentially achieve that in less than 10 years, whereas Mars would take 20+ years.
The mission of SpaceX remains the same: extend consciousness and life as we know it to the stars.
It is only possible to travel to Mars when the planets align every 26 months (six month trip time), whereas we can launch to the Moon every 10 days (2 day trip time). This means we can iterate much faster to complete a Moon city than a Mars city.
That said, SpaceX will also strive to build a Mars city and begin doing so in about 5 to 7 years, but the overriding priority is securing the future of civilization and the Moon is faster.”

The schluck is the price you pay to be lazy in the kitchen. I still have a video of college-me preparing dinner, knowing full well that it causes intense psychic damage to anyone with actual food standards. I am not a gourmand- this bad boy went straight into a microwave, and then into my mouth.

Reminds me of the NaNoWriMo scandal where the ED was trying to insist that people who hate AI are classist and ableist.

For the life of me, I can't tell if these people actually believe what they say, or if they're just spewing random words to justify the pro-AI conclusion they already reached.

So an odd thing here is that if you say "an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume" your point is to communicate "it is not really Batman" but the problem is that the real Batman, within the fiction of the comic book "Batman", is also, literally, an unidentified man dressed in a Batman costume

The Epstein emails should really end the debate over whether society should have billionaires. "Do you want there to be a class of people so powerful they can fuck your kids and no one will even try to do anything" seems like an easy sell if everyone in politics wasn't trying to get on their payroll

Whelp, nothing for it. Guess I'll just have to go through all of my beloved and/or memorable kid lit books to see which camp I can sort them into. And how much of it is morality vs something else. Truly a horrid fate. </s>

31.01.2026 18:08 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

I don't think I ever hated The Giving Tree for not having good morals? I hated it because it was unfair and unjust. Which, definitely some overlap there I'd have to unpack. But this total jerk of a boy absolutely ruins a tree and there were no consequences. Similar to why I loathed Rainbow Fish.

31.01.2026 18:06 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I mean... it's true, the first camp tends to be forgotten easily. Especially if it's done poorly-- they tend to be as subtle as a brick, and no kid wants to be lectured at for any reason. But I can also say that while I think about the second type forever, it's not always a good reason?

For anyone who still has MAGA or MAGA-adjacent folks in their lives, I would like to give you a response script if you find it useful.

MAGA: "Well, s/he should/n't have..."

You: "Oh, so they deserved an immediate, extrajudicial death sentence? Please show me where in U.S. law this is a lawful use of force."*

They cannot because it is not.

Also, for the record, ICE has not killed 2 people in 2026. They have killed 9. Keith Porter, Parady La, Heber Sanchaz Dominguez, Victor Manuel Diaz, Luiz Beltran Yanez-Cruz, Luis Gustavo Nunez Caceres, and Geraldo Lunas Campos all deserve to be remembered as well.

*Do not accept vibes in lieu of citations. That way lies the breakdown of civil society. "I believe" or "Well, I just think" are not valid citations to U.S. law.

I keep thinking β€œmy god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
