On Tuesday β the anniversary of President Donald Trumpβs second inauguration β Huguenot High students walked out of class to protest the actions of US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Trump administrationβs broader immigration enforcement agenda.
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement is looking to buy a warehouse in Hanover County and convert it into an immigrant processing facility.
The move comes amid increasing ICE activity in Virginia, including an uptick around Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger's inauguration last week.
FEMA has declared a state of emergency in Virginia ahead of the storm.
"We are able to receive direct federal supplies where necessary for the purposes of health, health and safety of our fellow Virginians," Gov. Abigail Spanberger said.
Despite what a post said on the Charlottesville subreddit, a local Waffle House will be open through the winter storm.
Shelley Herring, who works in customer service at the location, said the restaurant will be open this weekend.
βWe are nonstop, 24/7,β Herring told VPM News on Friday.

Congress will claw back $1.1B from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. VPM, which is a PBS and NPR affiliate, will lose more than $2.5M over the next two years in lost funds. VPM President Jayme Swain says the cuts could result in the loss of Central Virginia local programming.

The boil water advisory has been lifted in the Greater Richmond area, also including the counties of Hanover, Henrico and Goochland, which have been under boil water advisories this week.
The city of Richmond will undergo a review of the events that led to the water system failure and soon would announce the details of that process, according to Mayor Danny Avula.
