release of threads an immediate identity crisis to those of us who have built up completely different social graphs on instagram and twitter (and come to a secret third place, bluesky, to complain about it)
this thing still on?
Please spread the word about this bot to folks who use screen readers and/or rely on alt text for understanding images of text. Please do not use the bot when it isn't needed. It isn't expensive to maintain the service, but it does cost money. You can report issues to @holden.bsky.social. Thank you!
When a reporter breaks a small piece of interesting news on Bluesky is it a skoop
just wait until they get to the horses story
if you know what this is about no you donβt!!! deleting this when my college friends get on this app
i didnβt read all of check please over the weekend just to arrive at trivia and be confronted with a hot nepo baby named jack
unfortunately
that sound you hear is all the twitter reporters canceling their afternoon plans
lol I thought that might be the case (also hi @anissa.bsky.social)
wait I was also there!!
ig has started recommending to me the types of tumblr positivity text posts that I used to love circa 2017ish. it is actually kind of nice? nothing truly dies, everything is resurrected, etc β anyway I look forward to seeing screenshots of your alf hog skeets or whatever wherever we go after this π«‘
if you are following, unfollowing and refollowing me over and over so Iβll keep getting the notificationβ¦I would just like you to ask yourself why!
fair
sorry
that post was deleted! fwiw I was able to dm the link
you deserved this one
the slow meandering death of twitter feels particularly sad given the state of the digital media industry. for a while, twitter felt like the great equalizer. if you played your cards right you could get your work in front of some of the nation's best editors & reporters, experience be damned
anyway kendallβs line about getting a tech valuation for a real estate propositionβ¦spending the rest of the episode pumping up the projectionsβ¦there was a twitter thread last week about who the biggest succession fans in tech were and i wonder what they thought of this joke!!
(i think sarah snook is hot too, donβt @ me)
having a genuinely hot person on succession throws off the balance
just reread this after @yoyoel.com posted it and trying to read more (including but ideally very much not limited to from the platforms themselves)
probably a bad time to get actual engagement on this, but: what are the fundamental pieces of writing about trust & safety and content moderation on the internet? looking for articles, essays, books, etc.
one reason other social media platforms prioritize video so much is that it creates so many signals for ad targeting. Iβm not sure what blueskyβs business model is but if itβs not ad-based that could lead to a different structure for what kind of content is elevated
I think the other thing that really leads social media platforms to videos is that they provide so many signals for ad targeting (cc @kyurieff.bsky.social if I am wrong here lol). I am not sure what blueskyβs monetization plan is but if itβs not ads that could provide an opening for a diff structure
someone get rayne fisher-quann on here. raynecorp would clean up on bluesky
relatedly I read this from @tchotchke.bsky.social the other day and I canβt stop thinking about it!!
βIf I could be funny and interesting without a grounding referential status to a pop culture object, Iβd be leading a very different life, I thinkβ
a social network just for the shitposters, the wordcels, the people who never successfully figured out their best selfie angle
