Please be kind to the blowhard community. A lot of us have had a very exhausting week transitioning from amateur Constitution scholars to armchair Iranian government experts.

For those who have forgotten the past 40 years:

Tax cuts for the rich
...don’t trickle down

Boosting military spending
...doesn’t bring peace

Slashing regulations
...doesn’t create jobs

Folks, we’ve seen this all before.

β€œthe thinker of tender thoughts” by shel silverstein

[an illustration depicting a boy growing into a man. as he grows, his hair grows out as flowers. people laugh at him for it and he becomes sad. he starts trimming off the flowers, but as he reaches the last one he stops. he is then depicted with a smile and a flower in his buttonhole on his jacket.]

Just think how much more reach y'all would have if you used alt-text on these pictures all you engagement farmers like to pass around. Hint: there's a setting you can toggle to make sure you provide alt-text before you post.

Didn't we all have this debate back post-9/11 when so many proto-MAGA were pro torture? I think 60 minutes did a segment trying out waterboarding on various people.
Some still try and claim waterboarding isn't torture.

i am asking yet again how it is legal for a company to send me a letter saying "sorry somebody stole all your personal information from us and now they have all of your personal information. sucks to be you! bye!" and then they receive no consequences and it happens again a week later

About four conglomerate owning billionaires control virtually all original foreign correspondent news in the US. If the news is bad for business it won't be shown.

Every time a woman runs for president I hear that she’s too emotional and unstable to make wartime decisions, unlike the men in charge who make really reasonable decisions like bombing kids to death, starting water wars, and poisoning the entire planet

A lot of us veterans are not ok right now.

Do not EVER ask a veteran if they killed someone.

Do not ask us if we wish we could go fight again.

No human should experience war. Period.

If there was a ever a time to try to get 60 senate seats- it's this midterms. I don't want a slim majority. I want to silence the GOP.

We Lived Happily During the War
And when they bombed other people's houses, we
protested
but not enough, we opposed them but not
enough. I was
in my bed, around my bed America
was falling: invisible house by invisible house by invisible house.
I took a chair outside and watched the sun.
In the sixth month
of a disastrous reign in the house of money
in the street of money in the city of money in the country of money,
our great country of money, we (forgive us)
lived happily during the war.

Wish this was just a repub problem. Around here there are otherwise liberal folks that voted for Trump specifically because of RFK and his anti-vaxx stance. Medical science is so successful there are now generations of people that think it was unnecessary.

Most of the media is demanding that everybody supports the war effort. Well, sod that. This is an illegal conflict, launched by a decrepit American to distract from his domestic problems, which has already killed hundreds of women and children. I didn’t back the Iraq war in 2003. Nor this one!

I mean, Spotify platforms Nazis and exploits artists, and now even cuts out artists by backing AI, so as far as I'm concerned the algorithm can kiss my ass. #boycottSpotify

There's a hubris I've seen over and over again, over decades, in some young tech professionals, particularly those who are good at coding. It's like mastery of a single niche aspect of STEM confers laurels of wisdom in all things, and the self perpetuating insular bubble they thrive in doesn't help.

Djembe Funk - Wales, The Song | Free Bandcamp Codes

Some codes for free downloads of great jam band tracks Kelly Kintner just released, a collab with some folks in Wales. I didn't work on this, but if you like Phish or the Grateful Dead you'll like this. getmusic.fm/r/djembe-fun...

Exactly. And on top of that, not even people who study intelligence have great definitions of what that means, so I'll take the coder-bros breathless statements with a heavy dose of salt.

we went through over a decade of people claiming the iraq war issue was complicated, all to avoid the very simple response that should have been offered. no, the war was bad, we should end it, and it shouldnt be funded. period.

and all of that is the same with iran. its not a tough one.

Economic abuse by a partner contributes to one death every 19 days, report finds Financial abuse is a factor in more than half of deaths related to domestic abuse but is often misunderstood

One of those facts about UBI that should be obvious to anyone who gives it any real thought is how significantly it will reduce domestic abuse. In Kenya, unconditional basic income cut domestic abuse in half. In Canada's Dauphin pilot, it dropped by about a third. Everyone needs the power to say NO.

So far the war in Iran has cost an estimated $5.5 billion.

That's roughly $1 billion per day.

$41,666,667 per hour.

$11,574 per second.

People do not want this.

They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

Disband ICE.
It is terrorizing us domestically
as it shoots citizens (like Good & Pretti)
while calling them domestic terrorists.
