First dispatch is across the Bay Bridge on Kent Island. There's a guy that actually lives on the Eastern Shore but he's somehow dispatched both to a call in Easton AND downtown DC.
Time to update the resume.
Went textbook good. The New Boss was there "supervising" and slowed us down a little by not having any tools to uncrate the new exchanger on the truck before lifting so sent the whole ting up. I said "I"ll overlook it this time." He laughed. I didn't. Help or get out of the way. Otherwise good day.
Organized, focused production takes so much longer but tends to make better outcomes. I don't know if it's made mine better but feels like it has. I like that Fortnine has that great balance of casual, conversational feel with high production standards but I don't have that time or budget. XD

Very saddened by the sudden passing of my Baltimore Beat colleague Logan Hullinger, a terrific reporter, tireless harm reduction advocate, and standup community member. He would have turned 30 tomorrow. I enjoyed getting to know Logan, and hoped we would collaborate on many more assignments.

for me, it was finding a day job that allows me to only make art for myself. Chasing my bliss without ever having to compromise for someone else means feeling an unparalleled sense of ownership over my work, and that has a direct correlation with how other people engage with it.
Quit 20 years of a theatre career and started doing HVAC. Not being a starving artist anymore really helps. Sucks to lose time to a day job but the quality of my work is way better and I can also look at markets and galleries, etc. I am an artist. I am not what I do to make money to survive.
As a measure of power and "consequences as a result of utterances" you're really not far off.

2 challenges with it: 1, I may have to rip apart the air duct attached to it. 2, It's on the back side of the building so unless they have radios I don't know how to communicate with the crane operator on the ground since it's out of line of sight.
On a positive note, Virginia DPOR finally said "Your (HVAC master license) documents are received and sufficient. Please allow 7-10 days for review".
Now to start figuring out company structure and business plan. I know what I want to do, just not how to do it paperwork wise or if it's a good idea

Today is a heat exchanger I didn't write up. Boss's son is meeting us on site with equipment at 7. We can't get in until 730. Crane arrives at 8. Can we break apart this giant exchanger in 20 minutes? Good luck with that.
