Sources: Trump, college leaders to tackle issues at roundtable Conference commissioners are expected to join sports celebrities and dignitaries on March 6 in a roundtable discussion with President Donald Trump about the future of college athletics, sources said.

Ok, but she was scheduled to be there for...sports?

In 1789, Thomas Jefferson writing to James Madison, extolled the Constitution for instituting β€œone effectual check on the Dog of war by transferring the power of letting him loose from the Executive to the Legislative body.”

A reversion to the system that worked. Testimony taken only at hearings, not session.

It's not so much about quantity as it is about where/when comment is heard. On any bill or resolution that is required to have a public hearing (all non-privileged resolutions), the committee hearing (where anyone can testify) satisfies the requirements of the Sunshine Act, imo.

Council should relitigate that decision or lobby for amendment to the legislation.

I'm not well-versed on amendments to the Sunshine Act or caselaw since then; but I am aware that this decision has failed our city. Furthermore, Council is handcuffed until the legislation is amended or the decision reversed.

the Court did NOT "take issue with Council's perspective that its previous practice for developing public comment in committee is superior..."

For a half-century, Council allowed public comment at hearings; this was both custom but also functional. In Alekseev, a 4-3 Court found this to be in violation of the Pennsylvania Sunshine Act even though . . .

This 4-3 SCOPA decision required Council to allow public comment at Council meetings, not just in hearings.

ALEKSEEV v. CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, 24 EAP 2010 (Pa. 11-17-2010), No. 24 EAP 2010. | Pa., Judgment, Law, casemine.com Get free access to the complete judgment in ALEKSEEV v. CITY COUNCIL OF PHILADELPHIA, 24 EAP 2010 (Pa. 11-17-2010) on CaseMine.

Public Comment at Philadelphia City Council has long been problematic, but it has gotten out of hand.

My rare hot take: it's time for Philadelphia City Council to revisit Aleksee vs. City Council Of Philadelphia (link below).

Anne Hidalgo's positive impact on Parisian public space has been huge.

But the ultimate significance of her leadership on mobility justice is global: demonstrating what is possible really highlights the commitment of other mayors to convenience for car owners at the expense of everyone else.

🧡In my expert opinion as a researcher of vehicle ramming attacks, what has been publicly described in the video evidence does not support the claim that Renee Nicole Good was attempting a deliberate ramming attack when she was shot in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. 1/7
