If my student’s committee meeting had ended sooner on Thursday, I planned to take a quick walk to the FSU Student Union to grab lunch before my 12:30 class. Her meeting ran a bit late, then interrupted by a campus-wide lockdown alert for an active shooter. I’m ok, but devastated by the loss of life.
This cure for sickle cell anemia was made possible by NIH-funded research to turn the gene for fetal hemoglobin back on. It was done predominantly by NIH researchers, including intramural researchers on the NIH campus.

can't have a Super Bowl without coaches, referees, security, janitors, announcers, stadium staff, and a stadium - and you can't have research without supporting people and facilities

The problem is that we often can’t know what “essential”means until the data are analyzed —- hindsight is 20/20.

If reports are to be believed, these courses are still going to be offered for credit, but just not satisfying Gen Ed requirements. We shall see. Those “culturally sensitive” courses are the headline, but other “standard” courses are now off the list too. Curious to see how FSU spins it.
