My last in-person class at Oxford Brooke’s today - finishing out the 3rd year’s musicology module with a discussion closely related to my thesis. It’s been a privilege to teach such engaged, excited and inquisitive students; I’ll remember our classes very fondly.

Brookes' English/Creative Writing Department is excellent (I did my first degree there, including multiple amazing modules with Alex) and these redundancies are awful. #SaveBrookesEnglish

I did my MA and PHD in this department at Oxford Brookes and absolutely trace my ability to teach people to research from the supportive development and community there.
We need more Oxford Brookes English departments in the world, the whole world benefits.

Firstly, and most importantly, devastated for Alex and great Brookes colleagues, and sending love and solidarity south. This is awful, and it's absolutely a product not only of government actions, but also more general anti-Humanities rhetoric in the last few years.

Terrible news:
“Today Oxford Brookes announced the closure of its Maths & Music departments, & that many colleagues in others are at risk of redundancies in a ridiculously short timeframe & insulting VS scheme: in English, History, Film, Anthropology, and more to come. All doing great research.”

Gutted to see what is happening at Brookes. Entire departments of Music and Maths are set to close, along with culling vast swathes of colleagues in English, History, Film, Anthropology, and apparently more yet to be announced. Solidarity, and hoping this appalling decision can change.

Probably one of my favorite places I've worked was Oxford Brookes University. I loved the camaraderie among our small department, and the students were wonderful. It really saddens me to see that the Music department at Brookes is closing and that English is also under threat.

Oxford Brookes University has made the terrible decision to close its Music programme. The music team (see full statement below) suggest writing to the VC of Brookes and to its Board of Governors.

The Oxford Brookes University branch of the UCU responds to the proposed staff and departmental cuts, including the axing of the music department.

The union criticises both the process and financial projections underlying the University SMT's decisions.

Reason for removal: Hi - You really need to put together some more professional covers for your books. This isn't to criticize your artworks, but it isn't artwork for covers. There are lots of ways you can put together images cheaply with AI or stock art and free fonts. Here is a post with advice on choosing fonts for fantasy: https://miblart.com/blog/fantasy-book-cover-fonts/ Deposit photos can often allow you to get beautiful images for a buck.
