Good news, better late than never
Good news, better late than never
In Serbia, publicly stating your opinion apparently now is considered as a threat to the constitutional order, following head of ruling party SNS, who once again accuses
University professor Gruhonjic in Novi Sad.
This is not the first high-level threat against professor and journalist Gruhonjic.
My two cents about the developments and protests in Serbia for the main news @tagesschau.bsky.social in Germany

Novi Sad 🖤
After 16 days and more than 400km by foot, students from Novi Pazar have arrived in Novi Sad tonight ❤️

Danke Jungs! Vielen Dank für die Einladung 💙
Wake up, Serbia! Pumpaj:

Europa sollte genau hinschauen.“
Endlich klare Worte.
The house detention of Luka has been prolonged from 30 to 60 days. He has done nothing wrong, but is still being treated like a criminal.
Meanwhile people beating up or driving into students get amnestied by the president.
Today should only be about remembering and commemorating, united by respect and pain, in silence.

Luka, a student from Zrenjanin, heavily beaten by police, while following their orders with his hands up.
After several operations, he was handcuffed to his hospital bed in Belgrade like a criminal.
Everything is upside-down in Serbia.
Their hands are getting bloodier every day.
Huge wave of arrests today in Serbia
Across Serbia, citizens are blocking streets. They are committed to stay. Civil disobedience in the whole country.
Novi Sad, Smederevo, Niš, Čačak, Užice, Zrenjanin .... and here you can see all the different locations in Belgrade 👇
Serbia today.
Still demanding justice for 16 dead of Novi Sad
In case you wonder why there are no EU flags during the current protests and why citizens are uniting and gathering under the slogan: "you are not going to dig"
The Jadar mining site lies in the middle of a flood area and above a big source of drinking water.
What will be more valuable and expensive and in a few years time?
Infrastructure is in a desolate state. Railways, being seen as the main transport means for the mining project, are in desperate condition, leading to regular derailments. Imagine when they start carrying sulfuric acid.
State capture is not just an abstract political concept but lived reality.
Institutions are weak and serve party political interest, as does the judiciary.
Serbia is in a political and societal crisis since more than 6 months.
Corruption has killed 16 people in Novi Sad, clearly showing that institutions are not capable of guaranteeing the safety of a simple reconstruction project. But will a highly demanding mining project?
