basically I'm just going to avoid using the overlay or streaming games on Discord for the foreseeable future, which sucks but I can live without it.
Good news for me personally is that streaming artwork to some friends works for me.
I AM/WAS KINDA RIGHT
I've kept the overlay off and started a stream in a Discord VC just to test and the freeze happened.
This time I remembered I could reset my GPU without doing a full shutdown and after doing that everything went back to normal.
Spontaneous 3 mile walk around my neighborhood was pretty good.
Though one thing is concerning: I could still play games even with the overlay. Helldivers, though it did lag and crash a couple times (not a machine issue, people everywhere have issues) it never had a severe crash.
So basically I just don't know if I'm right here.
I turned off the overlay altogether since it crashed on me with three different games. I can only hope that this IS the answer because otherwise it looks like a hardware issue starting to rear its head, but no red flags are popping up that I can see.
After that, similar story for opening up No Man's Sky, but I narrowed it down to starting a stream of it over Discord.
Just now though? Stardew Valley, also crashing twice. Once when I started to stream it, the other just after the overlay loaded in.
So, Discord just became a random issue I guess.
Basically I'll open a game and then upon interacting with anything on the menu it'll go unresponsive. If I try to end the task, the computer freezes.
This first happened after I tried to install Snowrunner but it simply would never unpack so I gave up, opened Squeakcross, and then boom, frozen.
Over the past week I've been plagued by a weird series of crashes so extensive that my entire computer freezes save for my mouse and audio. Like if I'm in a VC people can still hear me and I can hear them, and videos that are playing keep going.
and remember, DO NOT STOP CALLING.

Anyway, good morning. Streams will start up again slowly in September.
What else will I stream? Well Helldivers was pretty fun to stream, and I also still have EDF5 to complete. I have a sort of list of other games to play on stream:

and some others.
So what's the plan now?
Well, I don't think I'll be doing the FFXIV streams often. In fact I think I'll be playing it off stream mostly and share screenshots of the progression. It's just more fun for me to play on my own without having to worry about entertaining some people watching with yappping
That said, I DO enjoy streaming sometimes, but I lost the plot with myself. When I did the Skyrim playthrough I was streaming it because it was fun for me to do so. The FFXIV playthrough is... less fun to stream.
Oh, I enjoy FFXIV immensely, but streaming a story playthrough hasn't been fun.
