Bright yellow flower with drops of rain glistening in the sun.
The garden certainly appreciated the summer storm that passed over the Perth Hills this morning.
The rain certainly made things a bit brighter and fresher, including this lovely Hibbertia sp. flower which was glistening with raindrops

Cycads attract beetles with heat in the night
www.botany.one/cycads-attra...
Pollination looked different at the time of the dinosaurs. Without showy flowers, heat was used to attract beetle pollinators.

Quokka, a small macropod, foraging in the sand dunes, Wadjemup (Rottnest Island), Western Australia.
Lovely flowersβ¦ shame about the AC π¬. Gonna be a hot one tomorrow too
Did you know gum blossoms don't just attract bees - Australia's eucalypts rely on a huge range of species for pollination!

If youβre in south-eastern Australia, from the Snowy Mountains of NSW to Victoriaβs alpine foothills and between, consider becoming a βBogong Buddyβ and help track their migration.

Itβs been a hot few days in the Perth Hills and the bird baths have been in high demand from lots of our garden wildlife.
Like this lovely Bronze Wing, who had a good long bathe todayβ¦ I think he was in there for at least 5 minutes πͺΆπ§

Spotted Hyacinth Orchid - small pink and white flowers on a spike, with no leaves.
Each year I go out into the forest in search of these beauties!
They rise up in the dry, almost desolate forests in late summer when all other colour has be burned brown or grey.
Just one or two here, then none for a few kilometres. Always a real thrill to find the Spotted Hyacinth Orchid

The stems as far as I knowβ¦ but theyβd have very snazzy nests if they did use the flowers!
