Agreed! As a fellow Class of 1986 member, we still chant "86, 86, 80, 80, 86" at reunions. I thought that was the extent of things though π€·ββοΈ

A red brick building with a Canada Goose perched on top.
A Canada Goose standing on top of a red brick building looking into the distance.
The Guardian is here! We can safely go about our business.
A small garden with shrubbery, climbing vibes, and trees. It is enclosed by light grey cement. There are stairs to the left.
Spring is here!
Let's go!
I've been fairly emo lately (wonder why???) so my listening may reflect that a bit.
Flumpool have a new album out (Shape the Water) and I can't stop listening. David Sylvian's 1987 Secrets of the Beehive. Gravity Stairs (2024) by Crowded House.
She is a good helper π Coincidentally, my kitchen monitor is also an ACD. His nickname is "Quality Control"
I loved it.
Good Morning! β¨οΈβ¨οΈπ«ΆπΌ
The mental cost is high, unfortunately. Not originally from Oklahoma, but currently working here and it is truly like living in a nightmare.
Happy Valentine's Day to you, Larry. Thank you for keeping us sane πππ€
Eight book covers with the words "January", "one more chapter", and a sticker of a caterpillar with a book on its back and the words "book bug" on the book.
Metro Library's bingo challenge has offered me a little healing and balance in this "interesting times" month. I set a challenge for myself to read 56 books this year.
So glad you're here! *Love* the Front Desk series even though I'm old π€ When I came to the States as a young Asian American in the 1970s, I didn't see myself reflected in stories. Thank you!
Sending healing and love your way. Both the pain and the hospital are miserable. May you mend quickly.
He's a lovely beebee π
The Cover of the fantasy novel Babel - a black and white depiction of Oxford with a tower rising in the distance.
The Metro Library is holding their winter book bingo and it's been the perfect nudge I needed to read more. Absolutely loving Babel by R.F. Kuang. Some truly lovely prose along with "truth gut-punches." Highly recommend.
Aaron, I've appreciated your voice on Twitter, look forward to supporting you here as well.
Survived the first week of spring semester ππ Just 15 more to go...
Album cover featuring Thomas Dolby in a retro sci fi image with tubes and electronics.
Albums that changed my life in no specific order: Thomas Dolby's The Golden Age of Wireless (1988). Despite my disdain for "She Blinded Me with Science", this is a brilliant album. Dolby earned my eternal respect for showcasing the exquisite Yano Akiko on "Radio Silence"

Nice album, appreciate "Pillars" and "Mixed Advice"; following you on Spotify. Good stuff!
Remembering all of those people that lost their lives, many far too young, to this horrible disease.
Take a moment.
Yep, exactly.
ππΌππΌ Educators like that chair are the ones who give their students faith in their own ability to learn and inspire their colleagues to grow.
Thankful you said this! Every semester I must explain to my undergrads that some faculty are incredible content experts but that doesn't mean they've taken a single class on how to actually teach. (I also have to remind myself of this when in committees w/faculty & my M.Ed = my voice isn't valued π )
A lot of academics are also very bad teachers of undergraduates & graduates. They didn't develop the specific skillset of being educators. That's a specific set of skills that isn't automatic with a PhD. They're not really reaching their students, & their students aren't coming away with anything.
Larry makes his own rules.
american schools: on the first thanksgiving, the pilgrims and native americans shared dinner to celebrate their peaceful coexistence in the new world π
me: that sounds nice! what happened next?
american schools: uhhhhhhh. dessert
The music group Blondie stand in front of thick black and white lines. Debbie Harry is in a white dress, the rest of the band wear black suits, white dress shirts, and skinny ties.
Albums that changed my life in no specific order: Parallel Lines (1978) by Blondie. This album is responsible for my lifelong love of libraries - I checked it out of my tiny library again and again.
I may not remember where I left my keys, but I can still sing every line of Sunday Girl.
Happy Birthday, Millie! May your day be filled with treats, snuggles, and joy.
SlΓ inte Mhath and γ«γ³γγ€!
Looking forward to what it's cooking up!
