Preach. I am not the same person I was even a couple of years ago, and it's unimaginable that we're just not warned, or investment hasn't been made to research it more, or companies don't have robust policies in place for dealing with it.
It is a coot π I didn't want to be *that person* - and I also came here to say I loved that vid - but moorhen's are the ones with red around their beaks. My dad taught me how to remember by saying 'white coot' to indicate the white around their beaks!
Optical illusion of a woman bent over some papers. Her sunglasses are pushed up and she is wearing a hair band so the top of her head looks exactly like a Muppet face
Sorry I know the world is in a terrible fix but I've been laughing at this for ten minutes now
Love and hate sending back edit letters.
Screenshot of a book cover showing an illustration of a crow perched on an "ICE" jacket lying in the middle of a snow-lined road under the light of a full moon. The cover reads "ICE Out " by Charles de Lint. Text to the right of the cover reads "ICE came to Newford. Big mistake." and "Download for free!"
Urban fantasy author Charles de Lint just published a new "novelet" and released it for free, his stories of myth and magic and community and found family are full of so much love and hope and we could all use some of that right now

Sometimes I wonder why I am tired, and then I look at the twelve books here that I've either shepherded to a real book or are in the process of shepherding, and then I understand π€£π€£ Anyway, EVERY SINGLE BOOK here is brilliant and worth you dropping pennies! π
Book Review: The Salt Oracle, by Lorraine Wilson

Got three! The Maurice Broaddus trilogy (King Maker, King's Justice, King's War); the Helen Hollick trilogy (The Kingmaking, Pendragon's Banner and The Shadow of the King); the M K Hume trilogy (Dragon's Child, Warrior of the West and The Bloody Cup). All three really good!

Had a dream last night that the books you owned when you died were the only ones that you could then read in the Afterlife, and I was running around so many fucking shops trying to find the ones I really wanted. Some bastard kept gazumping me on eBay bids too.
Two fantastic human beings in that vid right there - Alysa tearing up the rulebook about what MUST be done in figure skating and having the time of her life; Daniel taking on whatever roles in stage and screen he wants and having the time of his life π
Non-Discworld was the Truckers, Diggers, Wings trilogy and I adored those snarky Borrowers - I've always loved the conceit of little people living amongst us and using our things.
Discworld was Reaper Man, and since then Death has always been my fave. (Although fave above all is Lords and Ladies!)
Now do it in the UK
Yes, the low vit D thing was another signpost to me (yet another) that I really should be starting the process of being formally diagnosed for ADHD π€£
When I had to go to the GP about it, she said that just about everyone in the UK could do with at least a daily supplement of vit D, because lots of us are low-grade deficient.
Recommend a decent dose of vit D - something like 4000 IU. Anything lower doesn't really correct deficiency, it only keeps you buoyant. And honestly, if you think you are suffering from low vit D, get the GP to administer a blood test and check because you could need a loading dose. I did.
A combination of low vit D and accelerating rapidly into menopause combined had me unable to walk up and down stairs. I had to crawl. I was used to walking my dogs actively twice a day, and they pushed me to a place where I was convinced my body was broken.
I played that game with vit D and it's worth the experiment to find out!
This is beautiful. How fucking inspiring for working class people everywhere.
Flight radar over the UK is looking pretty fucking scary this evening...
Bloody hell
I mean, it goes without me saying it, because of everything else he's done and said, but Trump daring to repeat the lie of Sharia courts in the UK is so fucking racist it defies belief.
I love it when there are documents/letters etc between chapters or sayings/history at the start of chapters, leaving a whole lot of prose still, but not complete epistolary-style novels where there are nothing but documents.
Ah yes, was always my fave when agenting:
"I decided to query you because you represent one of my favourite books [name book]." It always made me feel so special and warm.
This IPSO adjudication against the Telegraph is quite something
Confirms their story titled: βWe earn Β£345k, but soaring private school fees mean we canβt go on five holidaysβ was completely fabricated, with the family involved non-existent and stock pictures used
