Such a joy to work on this Thai-inspired adult romantasy by @eggqueenwera.bsky.social!

When forbidden magic binds their fates, Fa Ying and Tana must unearth the truth behind a royal assassination & decide whether love is worth the ruin it will bring. #RevPit

omg sob. πŸ₯ΉπŸ₯ΉπŸ₯Ή

Thank you for your excitement for a rewrite that was bigger than both of us expected, but I'm so proud of the direction this book has gone in and of you for all of your hard work!!!

(and yes all of the yang yang appreciation!!)

And I wish we could give feedback on every single sub, but with the volume we received, it just isn’t possible. That’s why we created things like #10Queries: to offer insight on how we’re thinking, even if we can’t respond to everyone individually.

Now, if you don’t hear back and aren’t sure what your story needs next (or if it needs anything at all), it might be time to bring in a CP, freelance editor, or trusted reader with strong story instinctsβ€”to get high-level feedback and see if your manuscript needs a deeper revision or is query-ready.

Great question! And you’re definitely not alone in wondering this!

Quick note: Many of us are still not done notifying for both our #RevPit #10Queries picks & finalists, so hang tight a little longer. We know the wait can feel like limbo, but we want to be intentional in how we respond.

Aiming to get them emailed out by the end of the week! I'll post an update when I've sent out everything!

I would be honored to work with any of the authors and manuscripts subbed to me. Every single one showed talent, potential, and promise.

Not getting chosen for #RevPit doesn’t give you enough data to bury a project. Please don’t treat it like a final verdict.

Rooting for you all like mad!

15.04.2025 15:51 πŸ‘ 37 πŸ” 2 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Some authors don’t get chosen for #RevPit because their manuscript is already too polished. Some because the time constraints of the contest aren't a fit. Some because the editor had to choose one out of twenty they loved.

None of that is a reflection of your future in publishing.

15.04.2025 15:51 πŸ‘ 27 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 3 πŸ“Œ 0

#RevPit editors don’t select the most deserving writer or even necessarily the book with the highest chance of success. Editors choose one project that fits into their current bandwidth. It has to *need* work & be something we're excited to pour our time and energy into on top of our paid work.

15.04.2025 15:51 πŸ‘ 23 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

I've seen a few subposts today that tell me this needs saying: #RevPit isn’t a contest that rewards the β€œbest” book. It’s one opportunity, shaped by timing, taste, and editorial capacity. Not a judgment on your future in publishing.

#RevPit I’ll be emailing #10Queries feedback throughout the week!

Without further ado, here’s what you’ve all been waiting for! It’s winner and runners-up announcement time! #RevPit

14.04.2025 16:00 πŸ‘ 94 πŸ” 23 πŸ’¬ 9 πŸ“Œ 32

as we get closer to #RevPit announcement time, here are some important reminders:

✨️ sharing your work is brave
✨️ the contest (and ALL of publishing) is super subjective
✨️ "best manuscript wins" is not a thing
✨️ you are unique and exceptional in ways only you can be

happy #RevPit day πŸ’›

P20: A R. Strong sense of place and the humor threads naturally into the character's emotional state. To elevate the tension, consider anchoring the stakes a little sooner. What does the MC fear? What do they want? #RevPit #10Queries

11.04.2025 21:10 πŸ‘ 12 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 1

Q20: A R. This query nails voice, tone, and setup. The stakes are hinted at but could be amplified for impact. Strengthening the hookβ€”especially what emotionally or thematically sets this romance apartβ€”could help it stand out in a crowded category. #RevPit #10Queries

11.04.2025 21:10 πŸ‘ 14 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

P19: A R. The voice is smart, funny, and emotionally raw. Perfect for rom-com. We’re pulled into the aftermath of heartbreak, but to heighten stakes, consider grounding us faster in what the MC wants now. What’s the turning point that will move her from heartbreak to action? #RevPit #10Queries

11.04.2025 21:10 πŸ‘ 10 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Q19: A R. This is a model queryβ€”clear, voicey, and emotionally resonant. We get the genre, tone, stakes, and romantic arc up front, with just enough worldbuilding to anchor us. Every sentence earns its place. #RevPit #10Queries

11.04.2025 21:10 πŸ‘ 12 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

P18: A R. To deepen immersion, consider grounding us more clearly in the characters’ emotions and stakes within the action. What does the MC want in this moment, and what tension is driving the scene forward? #RevPit #10Queries

11.04.2025 21:10 πŸ‘ 11 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Q18: A R. Right now, the setup is overshadowing the romance. Try tightening the backstory and shifting the focus to set up the romance arc: what draws the love interests together, what stands in their way, and what's at stake if it falls apart? #RevPit #10Queries

11.04.2025 21:10 πŸ‘ 11 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

P17: A R. The voice is charming and engaging, with natural banter and vivid sensory details. There's strong momentum, but consider anchoring us in the MC’s emotional goal earlier. What does she want internally? What’s she afraid to lose? Let that urgency carry us. #RevPit #10Queries

11.04.2025 21:10 πŸ‘ 11 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Q17: A R. Great concept, but the query could pop more with a hookier opening line and clearer stakes. What’s the cost if MC fails? Let the character's emotional arc shine as much as the premise. We have plenty more room to explore this. #RevPit #10Queries
