Beyond the shelves: Stories from volunteering at Heart Ministry Center On Random Acts of Kindness Day 2026, I joined the volunteers at Heart Ministry Center who play an important role in fighting food insecurity in our area. Last year alone, the Center distributed more than 4 million pounds of food to families across the Omaha metro, an incredible effort powered by everyday helpers showing up to give their time. This week, I got to be one of them.The morning started in a way I didn’t expect: with a song.

Circle moment: Patty named Radio Talking Book Service's volunteer of the month CIRCLE MOMENTS: When SHARE Omaha connections come together and create a moment of magic - for good. ✨During Do Good Days 2024, Patty was searching SHAREomaha.org for volunteer opportunities and discovered the need for on-air readers for Radio Talking Book Service's upcoming book-a-thon. What started with one-time interest led to Patty reading the Wall Street Journal over the air every week for those who are blind or low vision. Now, almost 2 years later, Patty is named the Radio Talking Book Service volunteer of the month!
