Dark money denies voters critically important information about the sources of election spending, while also leaving our elections vulnerable to corruption and foreign influence. 2/
Our campaign finance system is failing voters, in no small part due to the torrents of anonymous spending aimed at influencing their decisions during election season. As the amount of secret spending increases, the need for Congress to pass the DISCLOSE Act becomes ever more urgent. 1/
The same people who tried to overturn the 2020 election are now embedded in the machinery of government. "This creates substantial risk that the administration is laying the groundwork to improperly reshape elections...or even go against the will of the voters." -CLC's @brendanfischer.bsky.social
Our redistricting team has been busy at work fighting for fair congressional maps β from a critical federal court hearing in Utah to a trial in Missouri.π§΅
1. Reining in a Broken Campaign Finance System Our political system must not be dominated by wealthy special interests who, by virtue of immense wealth, can purchase the compliance of elected officials and drown out the voices of everyday voters. This distortion inevitably produces a government that is less responsive to the will and wishes of the majority.
2. Reckoning with the Reality of Racial Discrimination The electoral process must be completely fair and unbiased. This means every voter must have the same opportunity to meaningfully make their voice heard.
3. Redistricting That Puts People First in the Voting Map-Drawing Process To ensure equal representation, reduce political polarization and encourage the election of representatives who can meet the needs of their constituents, partisan politics must not be allowed to dominate the map-drawing process for congressional districts and state legislative districts.
4. Reducing the Public Trust Deficit Through True Accountability We need greater accountability across government through strong, enforceable ethics standards. Currently, only the U.S. House of Representatives is subject to independent ethics oversight. This level of transparency and accountability

BREAKING: A federal court rejects a meritless effort by partisan actors in Utah to put a gerrymandered congressional map back in place. The court protects our clients' victory and solidifies that a fair, legal map must be implemented for the midterms.
BREAKING: The Utah Supreme Court affirms that a fair congressional map will be implemented for the 2026 midterm elections. The court once again sided with our clients and reaffirmed Utahns' right to vote under a fair, legal map.
NEW: We filed a complaint alleging former Sen. Kyrsten Sinema illegally used over $700k in campaign contributions for luxury dining, international travel, exclusive events and more after leaving office. This is a brazen violation of campaign finance law.
At @campaignlegal.org, it has been our honor to represent the League of Women Voters Utah, Mormon Women for Ethical Gov't & individual voters in this years-long fight for fair maps, which continues as opponents advance a dangerous legal theory in support of their gerrymandered congressional map. 3/3
At this point, Iβve almost lost count of how many times Utah lawmakers and their allies have tried to block the law passed by voters back in 2018 that established an independent redistricting commission and banned partisan gerrymandering. 2/
NEW: Partisan actors in Utah are determined to try anything to block a fair congressional district map for the 2026 midterm elections. @campaignlegal.org is going to court on behalf of our clients YET AGAIN to stop this latest effort. 1/ LEARN MORE: campaignlegal.org/update/campa...
The lawsuit challenging SB 293 in Ohio is part of @campaignlegal.org's decade-long effort to challenge state laws and practices that unlawfully purge legally registered voters. 5/5 campaignlegal.org/cases-action...
Our partners in this effort are the @aclu.org Voting Rights Project & @acluohio.bsky.social, representing CAIR of Northern Ohio and @lwvohio.bsky.social. We are demanding that the courts prevent Ohio from violating the National Voter Registration Act. 4/
This violates federal laws against discriminatory voter roll maintenance & voter purges within 90 days of an election, known as the βquiet period.β Because voters are removed with no notice, it also violates the Procedural Due Process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. 3/
A new Ohio law requires the Secretary of State to compare Ohioβs voter roll against databases that often do not have updated citizenship information β meaning eligible voters, especially naturalized citizens, could be wrongly purged from the rolls. 2/
The disturbing trend of states using error-prone methods that unlawfully remove legally registered voters from the rolls has reached Ohio. @campaignlegal.org is suing the state to stop this practice and protect the freedom to vote. 1/ Learn more: campaignlegal.org/update/clc-s...

The danger to our democracy in the absence of such a commitment is too great to risk. 7/
...even in the face of pressure from the very administration putting forth their nominations. The Senate should refuse to confirm any nominees who are unwilling to make this commitment to protect & preserve the FECβs independence, even if that means the FEC remains inactive ahead of the midterms. 6/
It is therefore crucial that the Senate exercise its constitutional role to ensure that these and any future nominees to the FEC will fulfill their statutory obligation to ensure the agency's continued independence... 5/
For an agency whose role is to enforce the law against political candidates, parties, members of Congress and the president himself, this rejection of the agency's traditional and essential independence is unacceptable. 4/
... in which he claimed to take control of all independent agencies, including the FEC. His EO purported to demand that the FEC conform its legal actions to President Trump's own interpretations of the law. 3/
The FEC's critical role in protecting voters and maintaining a level playing field for political campaigns is as important as ever with midterm elections fast-approaching. One year ago, President Trump issued an executive order... 2/
STATEMENT: President Trump has nominated Ashley Stow and Andrew Woodson to fill two of the four vacant seats on the Federal Election Commission (FEC), the federal agency dedicated solely to enforcing election laws. 1/
Anti-voter legislation like the SAVE America Act arises from a toxic stew of misinformation about our elections. Congress must reject this bill and others like it, focusing instead on solving real problems like partisan gerrymandering and the influence of big money in politics.
At a moment when the Trump administration is pushing on multiple fronts to interfere with our elections, the presidentβs allies in Congress are trying to pass bad legislation that could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters: the SAVE America Act. campaignlegal.org/update/what-...
The progress our nation has achieved in forming a more perfect union over two-and-a-half centuries is under severe threat. I am proposing four crucial reforms to ensure 250 more years of American democracy, informed by the work of @campaignlegal.org. www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-ou...
As noted in the New York Times editorial, @campaignlegal.org is fighting to protect the freedom to vote and our electoral process on multiple fronts, but we canβt do it alone. It is more important than ever for Americans to stand up and oppose anti-voter actions.
This honor comes just as @campaignlegal.org is celebrating yet another victory for our clients in a lawsuit challenging President Trumpβs expansive and unconstitutional executive order seeking control over our elections. Learn more: campaignlegal.org/update/victo...
