Now that the cost of oil is filtering through to petrol station forecourts (diesel is 25p more expensive than it was 10 days ago here), the public backlash against Trump and his enablers is going to hit very very hard by the end of this week.

The question of what *effective* climate change and sustainability education looks like has never been more important and there is still much to explore.

This report delves into that question. It is one the mainstream education debate is now coming to:

Final stage of UAE πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ͺ today, Abu Dhabi. Isaac del Toro wrapped up the GC, but who will win the final sprint? The race goes straight past the front door of the UAE climate ministry: morganhphillips.substack.com/p/la-flamme-...

It's the Jebel Hafeet at the UAE πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ͺ tour today. This is where the GC gets decided. I'm tipping Isaac del Toro for the stage win, but can he win by enough to take the overall, and will the route be BBQ free? #LaFlammeVerte

I'm not sure if it is possible to design a more boring stage of World Tour pro cycling than today's stage of the Men's UAE πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ͺ TOUR.

But, the show must go on, here's today's #LaFlammeVerte

It seems that the increase in National Insurance rate was intended to encourage investment in capital (aka AI) rather than people

Now we see the consequent decline in jobs

Why would a *Labour* government do this?

Responding to the priorities of the tech oligarchs, not the needs of working people

Who decides which properties will be allowed to rebuild?
Who will pay for rebuilding and subsequent insurance?
Who decides which cities or areas will be defended β€” by sea walls, dredging projects, canals β€” and which will be abandoned?
If people must relocate, who decides when, and which people?
Who pays for relocation?
Which communities take in the relocated?
Who decides on compensation for the relocated?
What are the legal rights of the relocated? Who is legally liable for foreseeable damage to coastal property?
What is the value of nonmonetary attachment to a home or place? Is sentiment counted? Who decides on its value?
Should these decisions be made by lawmakers and technocrats or popular votes and referenda? Ad hoc or planned in advance? Determined by market forces or by some collective judgment of fairness?
If, as seems inevitable, the poor suffer first and worst from the impacts of extreme weather, what role should equity play in decisions about relocation?

Theres a quiet myth that #climate adaptation is less contentious than mitigation. It isn’t

Who's protected? Who pays? Who decides?

If we can’t transform society to decarbonize justly, why think adaptation will be easier? Both hinge on fairness, equality &democracy

Thanks for pointing this out, also @volts.wtf. And the list goes on, incl why do we normalise adaptation since many strategies are often associated with loss of livelihood, social capital and identity > rarely brought up. The global debates are just centred on funding, obscuring other key issues.

A popular topic of conversation at The Miracle Inn will very likely be this:

How will environmentalism be done differently in the middle decades of this century?

Will hyper-individualism be a key focus?

@rupertread.bsky.social and I attempted to capture what Transformative Adaptation is in our short book on it - not sure we came up with anything definitive, but definitely had an exploration of what it might be. I think it is, itself, transformative and transforming if that's not too meta!

Cultural approaches to environmentalism β€” The Miracle Inn There are three main approaches to environmentalism in the Western world: the technological, the cognitive, and the behavioural. A lot of effort (and money) has been put into all three over the last 5...

In this blog I ask if environmentalism - as understood and practiced in the West - is sufficient and make the case for a specific type of *cultural* approach that is already emergent and starting to happen. www.themiracleinn.org/blog/cultura... 2/2

Why didn't you back the Labour Left James? Why did you fall in love with Kier Starmer at exactly the point in time when you could have helped an actual Socialist shadow cabinet to win a General Election? Why James? Why Goddammit? Was it Mandleson's work?

I knew Matt Goodwin promoted the far right Great Replacement Theory but until @huwcdavies.bsky.social pointed it out, I didn't realise he'd actually interviewed the originator of the theory on his GB News show and plugged it like he's PT Barnum. A vote for Goodwin is a vote for white nationalism

Mandelson’s malign influence runs right through the heart of this Government.

Not least in the govt’s NHS data deal with Palantir – a spy-tech firm co-founded by a man who thinks the NHS should be β€˜ripped up.’

I've written to Wes Streeting urging him to ditch this dangerous deal.

But it's drenched in fossil fuels Jens and fossil fuels create carbon emissions which drive climate change and this is causing extreme weather events that threaten the sport we love!
