Progress on the current prototype of my next game is going pretty well. Trying to nail the physics before working on other systems.

Also, decided on using Unreal Engine 4. Wanted to stick with something I'm familiar with so I don't hopefully spend 7 years on it.

Indeed she does! She was one of the most fun characters to write.

I've made a curious observation about people playing Droplet: States of Matter. Of the two playable characters, people overwhelmingly choose to play as Molly-QL.

Eventually, I've come to accept the simplest and most obvious reason why:

She's cute, adorable and dorky.

I have started prototyping last night.

One thing I've learned as an indie dev:

Children of single digit age will play your game in unexpected ways. My niece had an absolute blast purposely jumping off this ledge for 20 minutes straight because of the funny sounds and animations.

My next game is in pre-production. I'm keeping it close to my chest until it's ready to reveal, but in the meantime, I'm probably going to keep posting Droplet-related stuff on social media to tide you over (pun intended).

Decided to have some fun and drew Molly-QL cosplaying as Hatsune Miku. The theme song "Through the Water Cycle!" was made using Vocaloid so it seemed fitting.

I achieved the goal of making the dream game I always wanted to make since I was a child.

Had some family visit during the holidays, and naturally, I ended up showing off my game.

My niece took a particular liking to the Yokai Gardens level and its music, even asking me to play it twice.

After months of not touching it since it released, I decided to replay Droplet: States of Matter just for fun.

Forgive me for bias, but with my perfectionism having worn off, it ended up being some of the most fun I've had with any 3D platformer.

This is why I make games.

To make the promo art, I placed the models in Argon Town, stuck a camera in front, hit print screen, then pasted it into Microsoft Paint.

There's two copies of the characters to cover different aspect ratios.

For such crude methods, I don't think it turned out half bad.

I'm happy to announce that Droplet: States of Matter just hit 150 copies sold! Thank you everyone! I really hope you have enjoyed playing my game so far!

I've been seeing some discussion about GenAI in games, so I thought I might preemptively clarify:

The intro song of Droplet: States of Matter was NOT made with GenAI.

It's actually the Amy Vocaloid with a ton of different FX applied to it.

Now with the legacy games project completed, I have to figure out what to do next. I suppose it's time to reach into my game idea backlog.

One of my most bizarre Clickteam Fusion games is a recreation of a 2005 game that was lost to time.

You play as .png of a cat that can burp out hairballs. Each level is weirder than the last.
