This is a very important quote from the interview that I hope every single company hoping to capitalize on the gaming industry reads and internalizes. Games are a unique market, and you can't just apply strategies from other industries and find success. This has been proven time and time again.
It stood out to me at the time, as a modder, because it was such a simple but clever solution, compared to trying to carefully time dialogue with animations, fsm triggers, and camera cuts, etc.
Iirc, the way they did these in Max2 was to have both character's lines start at the same time, with gaps in the wav file for when the other character was speaking. If an npc gets hit, killed, or the player walks away, the audio is stopped on both characters (and maybe another line is played).
Same thing happened with Roll7 two years ago. They released two awesome games then T2 just shut them down - I guess for a tax write off? 😒
If you're curious and can do magic eyes, you can get the 3d effect (and a migraine) without the peripheral. The screen is tiny, but you can make it bigger by pressing x in the ipd settings (hold r-stick in game). I found an ipd -15 and 1.3x was 'ok'. To quit, dock it and then press the home button.
The newest Silent Hill game being based on a costal town in Fife is perfect.👌 I remember when I was studying at uni, the haar would come in and St. Andrews would literally resemble the games for a few hours - it was eerie. Really cool that things are coming full circle.

We lost a legend today. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa played Shang Tsung in the 1995 Mortal Kombat film and sadly passed away at age 75. We had the privilege of his portrayal on the first MK film but also as an amazing voice actor in the Mortal Kombat 11 game.

Casca's really awesome. Getting a Daz / G8 pipeline working is a bit finicky at first, but it's so much easier than trying to animate directly in DS. Even without the physics tools, basic things like pinning joints just works without limbs sliding between frames or clipping through the floor. 🙃
