Just published on my blog: I lost my GRUB, here's how to restore it. - As Microsoft keeps pointing out, Windows 10 has now reached it's planned end of support date. As much as Microsoft is pushing for me to upgrade to Windows 11... Continue reading: https://rachelowens.co.uk/blog/post. [1/2]
OK, the Gorton and Denton by-election, I have some thoughts!
Let's take a look at some of the FACTS and burst a few of the more ridiculous takes doing the rounds
But first up, can we acknowledge just what bad losers Reform are?!π€£
Right, let's get started...

Every time Nigel Farage's parties have lost an election he has blamed it on "cheating" by ethnic minorities and every time he receives huge amounts of media attention for doing so.
The only problem? No evidence of cheating is ever found

Had a really nice day with my partner today #cycling around #York and #Overton . Even managed to dodge the rain! Today did prove how unfit I am, and Iβm very much looking forward to the sleepies later.
Iβm pleasantly surprised that the traffic seems to be doing OK on the exit slips when Iβve been passing. Not that I have any particular reason to use J5 with the B6236 *still* closed.
Occasionally Iβll use it and take the Grane to Haslingden for cheap fuel.
Iβve got a really bad feeling that Iβm going to fall apart over the next few weeks
I run NGINX Proxy Manager and anticipate this is probably the best option but would value any suggestions. [3/3]

It's so frustrating the likes of Tesco, B&Q and now Currys showing products from "Approved Third Party Sellers" on their sites. I'm tempted to write an extension to hide these listings, unless anyone else knows of one already available? #BrowserExtensions #onlineshopping

2025 wasnβt great. Not holding out hope for 2026.
A film that I may not be able to watch with my partnerβ¦ βThe Polar Express - Robert Zemeckisβ
As a train guard I fear that sheβll point out the inaccuracies of the *entire* film.
What was ever wrong with just βBritish Rail?β Why must we insist on prefixing it with βGreat?β If re-nationalising a small part of the rail sector and slapping some red, white and blue paint was the holy grail to solve everything, βGreatβ is going to be doing some heavy lifting. #trains #rail
To all those organisations who are βregretfullyβ turning their backs and closing the door on trans people,
Donβt worry, we wonβt forget.
The good thing about sleep is that you donβt have to put up with the bullshit of the world whilst youβre under.
Maybe I should do it more often than every night.
A black plastic project enclosure with a sloping top on a beach wood desk. The box has no other significant features as it has not yet been used.
I have a tendency to buy project enclosures before having an actual project to put inside said enclosure.

Some days will stick in your mind and haunt you for a long time after. Today is one of those days.
Whatever you think of RTD, he knows television and knows the warning flares need to be sent up. Television and journalism need to start questioning and pushing back. Pushing back hard.
Up early to try and dodge the #M60 traffic.
Seeing as Bluesky is going the same way as Twitter (i.e. Down the shitter), I just thought Iβd remind you that you can follow me on a truly decentralised service.

Iβve woken up to the sad news that Jane Goodall has passed away. I had the pleasure of meeting her on a couple of occasions through some initiatives we took part in at secondary school. A truly inspirational woman with a genuine passion for her work.
Once happened to me overnight on the M1. Scary thing to read and I was just waiting for the headlights to appear. Thankfully they did not.
That would explain why nothing seems to have happened there. Whilst that project is on hold Iβm surprised theyβve not reinstated the part time signals. Iβve seen the M65 Westbound stack up with traffic on the exit slip and the first lane. Admittedly I donβt think it gets as bad these days.
A photograph of the London skyline from around Trafalgar Square. In the photograph the Themes is visible in the foreground with the National Theatre behind illuminated in purple. There are numerous high rise buildings in the background including the Shard with various office lights on. Red anti aircraft lights are illuminated.
So happy to be back in the North West. Much prefer the rolling hills compared to city life. Hereβs a picture of London this morning at 01:00 because I couldnβt sleep.
Ooo thanks for sharing this. It is a terrible mess and Iβm bored now of driving through Accrington.
