Currently weaving 34 inches of stainless steel with a touch of copper and man… i love weaving. From chaos to order… 🥰
This is Byzantine weave.
Most of the metal processed by Parawire, or any metal processing company, is from out of country.
We small artisans are effectively going to be wiped off the board.
Based on my calculations, it won’t be enough to cover the 145% tariff on Chinese products.
I source my stainless steel earwires, chain, and laser-cut pendants from an awesome company that is well priced. I source my glass lampwork from so many places, but my favorite is Magma Beads in Australia.
I work with so many different types of supplies. I understand that we, as a country, do not have the infrastructure to take over any of this manufacturing right now.
So where does this leave an artisan like myself?
I have temporarily added a large tariff charge to all purchases.
Everything is up in the air right now because of the scary tariff situation.
Everyone will be paying more to import their supplies.
Wire companies, manufacturers of Stainless Steel, Anodized aluminum, Copper, Brass, and Bronze materials, glassblowers, fiber processors.
In crummy news: My husband lost his job this past Friday.
In okay news: I have lots of jewelry & art supplies. Some I have no plans for, so I have listed them on Ko-Fi!
