I think he thinks his legacy is for some time well beyond 20 January 2029…he’s definitely not behaving like a 2nd term president on the clock.

The White House says that the Iran conflict will last “4-6 weeks” more. I’m pretty sure they think they’re invading Iowa.
A poem, handwritten: “Zachor” says the wind ”Shamor” says the tree But no voice rises to say ”Amen”. ”Adonai” says the door ”Echad” says the step But no fingers reach to the frame. ”Never” says the bridge "Again” says the river And the world turns JA March ’26
It’s been quite a hard and demanding week and I’m very happy to see Shabbat in prospect. I also wrote this poem today and share it here as another Shabbat Shalom to one and all.
Yes. I think impossible guarantees about any weapons involved never being used for anything else would have to be involved.
Haaretz: Trump says 'no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER'
Demanding unconditional surrender supposes a level of consistency and accountability that DJT is…not known for possessing.
Defeating him in court was essential for everyone. That it turned her into a celebrity is…the world.
She’s always had an uneven grip on the difference between her assumptions, her conclusions, and the facts which lead to both. It’s why David Irving picked a fight with her: she did make (unimportant) statements about him that were untrue. But she was 100% right about him being a denier.
I just want to know when Rufus Sewell sat for the portrait. Look at those cheekbones.
The ”not really believable” is exactly where strategic planning comes unstuck. It wasn’t really believable that Britain and the USA would ally with the USSR.
Completing the matryoshka, I really wish we could find a way for society to value humanity over profit generally.
I think Private Eye have a recurring feature on Andrew Neil’s international relationships…
“What’s happening today makes the Iraq war look like a masterpiece of honesty and the consistent application of strategy.” God bless @iandunt.bsky.social and all who sail in him.
I get where you’re coming from, but China has spent an awful lot of money on the ”New Silk Road” to find itself with a pro-US regime in Tehran.
But in a multipolar world there are options. China has a strong interest (arguably more direct than the US) in the outcome. This is a gambit that only really works if you run the table in a way the US no longer does.
The problem is that the goal appears to be regime change on the cheap, which probably translates into bloody and prolonged civil war. And with no guarantee of the eventual winner, it’s potentially a route to a regime even less interested in peace than currently.
Human rights are universal or they are not human rights.
Front cover of today’s i newspaper: ”Warzone widens as US sub torpedoes warship off Sri Lanka”.
I think people should check the sheer distance between Tehran and Sri Lanka (2492 miles) to put “widens” into perspective.
I think if we reach the conclusion that a chatbot can deliver CBT more effectively than a human, there are going to be a lot of former CBT practitioners talking to chatbots. It’s a grim problem in which ”uproot late stage capitalism” is a neglected answer.
I think you may have just earned yourself a mention in IR textbooks.
If you are a doctor or a nurse, the Minimum Income Requirement doesn't allow your foreign national spouse to live with you in this country
No corrections!
@telegraph.co.uk quite apart from this being nonsense, your headline writer needs to ensure that the parts of speech agree. Vacillation/has or vacillations/have. Come on.
CNN: CIA working to arm Kurdish forces to spark uprising in Iran, sources say
And another idea that has ended badly on every occasion it’s been tried: always, moreover at the cost of more Kurdish lives than anything else.
Disappointment is a very tiring emotion.
Guardian: Trump administration has still not settled on reasons for going to war with Iran
Again, lesson 1 in “Military Strategy for Dummies”
Haaretz: Trump Reportedly Open to Backing Anti-regime Militias in Iran to Topple Ayatollahs U.S. officials told The Wall Street Journal that Trump spoke with Kurdish leaders in Iran on Sunday, and is engaging with other leaders in an ongoing basis who could take advantage of the regime's weakness
Because this has never gone wrong before.
If it gives me 40% of its revenue we can talk.
Normally those are qualifications.
It’s a view, but I actually think the constituency element preserves the chances of geographically concentrated groups. But once again 🤷🏻♂️
I’d prefer AMS for the primary chamber but 🤷🏻♂️
