Also if anyone who I know IRL might be interested, the new player queue is getting low on players

And it's only a hour a day for me if I'm running it, it's much less for the players
Which is also not usually a big deal, you often are not trying to do something every single day anyway
Well the schedule is everything advances by one day every day at about 9 pm with the results returned to you later that evening
It's also all text based, asynchronous and on discord
So if you don't get your orders in on time or in advance then you aren't doing anything that day
I did run one small game actually in this family(last month) but we I think maxed out at 15 people and I limited it to a month
even so it was about an hour a day time commitment which I had to be pretty consistent about
I would probably do it again but I can't do it all the time
oh what megagame did you play?
so there's been a lot of discussion, by the GMs and also the players, of how some topics need to be handled a bit more sensitively than in other similar games. So it's the only game I've played that has rules about perfidy or that references the Geneva Convention
This game is being exceptionally cautious, because while most other games in this family are set in fantasy settings or in medieval or earlier time periods, this one is set in the 20th century and while it's an alternate history type of thing there are clear real world analogues
Also, while it hasn't yet been an issue in this particular family of war games, war games can attract some not great people so you need to have firm, clear content rules to prevent any problems before they start.
There's only one instance of this specific game being played, although it is part of a larger family of (unpublished, at this point) games that are played on discord. Games set content policies individually. Probably 100 people will have played this game by the end so rules need to be specific
I actually looked again at the latest update and light perfidy is in fact allowed
shenanigans in general are allowed and definitely happening
like, even in the context of a game, nobody wants to play out genocide or whatever (well some people do but they aren't invited to this game)
but everyone wants to do a bit of perfidy
update on the GMs deciding to enforce the Geneva conventions in this game: increasingly detailed explanations of what does and does not constitute perfidy under international law in the announcements channel, which tells me a bit about how other people are playing this game
wait that was only a month ago?
It's gotten *substantially* worse since the Venezuela thing
Has there been much in the US news about the growing humanitarian crisis due to the US blockade of Cuba?

*Green card application in process and work permit, married to US citizen
*Lived in US for 20 years, no criminal record
*In detention for five months with no charge, despite judge approving release

I'll probably be not very involved in things until I figure out how to get my migraines under control
I have now been to a coffee popup inside a different coffee popup, I think there might be something wrong with commercial rents in this city
I think biking yesterday was a mistake maybe given the air quality
I knew about the tow truck wars in Toronto but I did not know that MORE THAN 1 IN 8 bullets fired by guns anywhere in Toronto in the year 2024 were related to tow truck driver turf wars???
And the police force is not just complicit but LEAKING INFO TO HITMEN????

A fundamental tension:
Robotaxi services can make the most money in dense urban neighborhoodsβwhich are precisely the places that need them least.
I think the 4chan thing is the one thing I would have dismissed as a conspiracy theory and the one that most changed my understanding of the world. Like I am not surprised that all the richest people were on the list, I am surprised 4chan was something they'd bother with
Since Californiaβs βFreedom to Walkβ act went in effect in 2023, decriminalizing βjaywalkingβ, the number of pedestrian fatalities has dropped at an even higher rate than the national average. We need to stop pretending that pedestrian access restrictions are βfor their own safetyβ.
Yesterday I got a preview of the possible cuts Muni would have to make without new funding sources. It's bad. 20 lines gone, only OWL service after 9pm, half the frequency on all remaining routes. No F or cable cars. Ridership numbers would plummet, and our streets would be gridlocked.
I think I am already giving up on my yearly Strava miles biked goal
