Special shoutout to our Muskegon area youth and young professionals who came to Lansing last week with Jobs for Michigan's Graduates. JMG is a strong career prep program helping participants identify a pathway for post-secondary success while overcoming individual barriers.

It was my honor to be joined by Muskegon County Commissioner Jessica Cook and Brianna Scott, Chair of the MSU Board of Trustees, at the Governor’s last State of the State. This was a chance to reflect on all we have accomplished, all the work yet to be done, and where we are heading.
Trail-blazing black women were honored in three categories as follows. The past: Rillastine Wilkins and Blanche Smith. The present: Kathy Moore, Zaneta Adams, and Chef La’Kisha Harris. The future: Kiley Jackson.
Yesterday, the Muskegon Black Woman's Caucus hosted a special Black History Month Luncheon celebrating the achievements, leadership, and legacy of black women in Muskegon. The gathering honored women whose strength, vision, and tenacity have helped shaped our community's past, present, and future.

Their unchecked aggression must end. These ICE agents must be held accountable. Our freedoms must be protected.
I urge everyone to contact our federal congressional representatives urging them to hold the Trump Administration accountable.
If that same government responds by killing those speaking out, then the foundation of our country has been broken.
ICE agents in Minnesota and across the country are acting with cruelty and impunity, illegally detaining citizens — including children — and terrorizing communities.
This is not a political issue. However you feel illegal immigration should be handled, America is a free society founded on the belief that when government becomes an oppressor, we have a right and a responsibility to respond.
While we don’t have all the details yet, one thing is crystal clear: President Trump’s immigration crackdown experiment is failing.
The violence must stop.
Just weeks after ICE agents in Minneapolis murdered an unarmed American citizen, news has broken that they have, yet again, murdered another American.

Back in November I was excited to explore the new upgrades to the Muskegon County Airport at their ribbon cutting ceremony and open house. Securing state funding to support these infrastructure improvements for the terminal upgrade was a major victory for me in Lansing last term.
Over the holiday break I recognized some new businesses that have recently opened in our district with special tributes from the State of Michigan for their hard work and dedication to making it in Muskegon! Congratulations to MELT Gourmet Sandwiches, Bean & Bloom, and La Catrina Grill & Cantina!
I'm fighting to make healthcare more accessible. #MiLeg
I'm excited to be working on House Bill’s 5168 and 5169, alongside my colleague Rep. Luke Meerman R-Coopersville.
Before the House adjourned for the holiday recess the Economic Competitiveness Committee took testimony on my bipartisan bill package that would create a tax credit for new and existing food processors to expand business operations in Michigan.
I am disgusted by yesterday’s fatal shooting of a civilian by ICE agents in Minneapolis. This event was both avoidable and tragic, and those who carried out and enabled this horrific incident must be held accountable.
The package of more than 20 bills aims to support Michigan veterans on multiple fronts — from expanding mental health and suicide prevention efforts to improving outreach and strengthening protocols for reporting veteran abuse.
Honoring and uplifting our veterans doesn’t require a holiday, but is a year round effort. Today I want to highlight a package of bills my colleagues and I introduced last month.
Thinking about those who celebrate on this final night of Hanukkah. May this festival of lights bring warmth, love and joy to your home.
Yesterday, I Introduced Bipartisan Legislation to Reform the State Work Project Denial Loophole.
This week’s vote was one of the most corrupt abuses of power and unprecedented displays of cruelty I’ve ever seen during my time in Lansing.
Survivors deserve the time and space to seek justice on their terms. Rep. @skeetownsnyder.bsky.social's bills give them a real chance to be heard and to hold those who harmed them accountable, no matter how long healing takes.
We fought to secure an increase of $10,503,359 for our local schools in Greater Muskegon in the new budget.
Dependable meals. Safe schools. Bright futures.
This budget isn’t perfect — but it secures major investments for Michigan. From the lunchroom to the classroom, this budget keeps Michigan’s kids healthy, fed, and ready to learn.
