Everyone is here at the Dyani White Hawk exhibit at the Walker. Last weekend, free admission today. It’s like the State Fair in here.

The Los Ocampo in City Center is open again today for the first time in weeks.
Immigrant-run businesses from other cultural corridors scaling up to open restaurants downtown is among the very best trends of the last decade. Please support them!

Proud of my friend Bill’s entry. It really was funny how slow it rolled down the hill.
El Burrito Mercado is open and busy.
A flyer from the West Bank business association. Text reads: WEST *BANK MPLS Community Notice - Cedar-Riverside | Saturday, January 17 Community leaders in Cedar-Riverside, including elected officials, rapid response teams, faith leaders, community organizations, and residents, are sharing the following information to ensure safety and clarity this weekend. We have been made aware that a small group of racist and anti-Muslim agitators may attempt to come into the Cedar-Riverside neighborhood on Saturday, January 17. Their intention appears to be to provoke disruption and create fear. Our community will not be drawn into that. To support safety and stability, trained community patrollers wearing yellow vests, faith leaders wearing orange vests, and local law enforcement, including the Sheriff's Office and the Minneapolis Police Department, will be present to monitor and respond to any potential concerns. Guidance for Cedar-Riverside Community Members • Do not be afraid • Go about your day as usual. • If you see protest activity or offensive behavior, do not engage, argue, confront, or respond • Avoid conversations with strangers, individuals recording video, or members of the media. • If you have concerns or feel unsafe, approach a community patroller or call 911. Guidance for Those Outside the Community No protest activity is needed, welcomed, or appropriate inside Cedar-Riverside. • If you wish to support the community, please coordinate with your local neighborhood rapid response network rather than coming into the area. Cedar-Riverside is strong, resilient, and united. We look out for one another, and we continue keeping our community safe together.
Please read and share with anyone who might be planning on counterprotesting in Cedar-Riverside this weekend
The Powderhorn Park Art Sled Rally is this Saturday, January 17th, 2 p.m.
This is just one example of the Minneapolis we are fighting for. I kind of hope a few of the national journalists show up.

From manufacturing to homebuilders to restaurants and beyond, the ICE operation in Minnesota is going to put a big dent in the local economy. Minnesota’s business community is clearly a target. tcbmag.com/rybak-minnes...
City life is interconnected. We live 4+ miles away from where Renee Good was shot, but my son plays basketball a block away, I have friends and colleagues who live in that nbhd, we love businesses near there, the person who offered medical support is a friend of a friend. This is personal for us.
The E Line has shaved a full 10 minutes off my commute, the buses are clean and warm (including during the mega freeze), and the pay-before-you-board thing is transformational. So excited that Minnesota has gone in on bus rapid transit like we have, it’s really so much better.
The staff of Move Minneapolis are incredible and capable folks. If you know of opportunities in the transportation space, please send them their way.

I just finished it! Great stuff. Cover not only attractive but tactilely pleasant.
Such a cool little town.

The Creative Enterprise Zone is deeply disturbed by the raid at Bro-Tex, a long-time business in our area. Immigrants are essential to our creative, entrepreneurial, & industrial fabric. We stand w our neighbors & remain committed to a community where all feel safe, respected & able to thrive.
I just met the author last month after I gave a talk at the Humphrey School, and we met for coffee to discuss his ideas. Loved it. Great work, Branch!
A river surrounded by natural grasses and flowers. The Stone Arch bridge is visible, as is the Minneapolis Mill District. A waterfall is visible in the distance.
Owámniyomni Okhódayapi just announced the Dakota-led design for the restoration of five acres at Owámniyomni (St. Anthony Falls), adjacent to the Upper Lock on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. Project construction is targeted to begin in spring 2026. Very exciting!

Yes he did.
Best/worst moment: hearing an amazing (AMAZING) band play Darling Nikki for the first time ever in my life, and feeling the groove so hard, and The Kid is being maximally toxic in that moment, and… how does one behave as an audience member in that moment??
I really enjoyed Purple Rain! The ways they updated the movie into a musical for modern sensibilities were smart, especially given some well-established weaknesses in the source material. 🙃
I think I speak for all of us - strong preference for you to tell this story in a song.
Bonus: we walked past Tableau, George Morrison's granite mosaic at the Nicollet entrance to the Loring Greenway (nicolletmallart.org/the-journey-...), and remembered that his first solo show at The Met just opened. Amazing and overdue recognition for a MN great. www.mprnews.org/story/2025/1...
I took our new MN GreenCorps member on a walk through Nicollet, Peavey Plaza, Loring Greenway, Loring Park, Mpls College, Harmon, and Hennepin yesterday - super dreamy on a crisp fall day.
Exhibit C: I got to know Anna as she was planning for this project and I love what she's doing (and the City's support of it). Support this project and learn more by attending their open house tmrw. Their Instagram is really fun, too - Center for People and Craft.
Nice burst of good Loring Park news this week - Exhibit A:
This is the first time that I've seen the City of Minneapolis planning dept (CPED) post an explainer video about a proposed ordinance change - super smart way to demystify a complex topic. www.minneapolismn.gov/business-ser...
This week, the City launch automated enforcement of speed limits at five high-risk intersections as part of a traffic camera safety pilot program. The pilot is a key part of the City’s award-winning Vision Zero initiative to eliminate traffic deaths and severe injuries on Minneapolis streets.
They just freshened up the Go Lynx street mural on 1st Ave N for the playoff run. Someone who works for the team told me the first person to notice was Sylvia Fowles!
